The Ancient Adventurer was first mentioned by Roy when describing his feats to Liko in HZ004. There is not much information about Lucius, but legends said that, around 100 years before the series, he was a Trainer who traveled through different regions and had several Legendary Pokémon as partners on his journey.

He briefly appeared in a fantasy in HZ006 when Roy told his grandfather about his dreams.
A group of his friends came to be collectively known as the Explorers and Lucius's Pokémon were collectively known as the Six Heroes. The main goal of all of them was to find a mysterious Pokémon paradise known as Laqua.

In HZ012, just after the Rising Volt Tacklers helped restore a forest that had been destroyed by a wildfire, the Pokémon in Liko's pendant came to life. With Arboliva's assistance, the Pokémon showed Liko and Roy a vision of the past where Lucius asked Arboliva to look for something. Later, Liko and Roy read a book by Alex that told the history of Lucius's adventures, based on stories told by Liko's grandmother Diana.
At some point on his journey, Lucius encountered Laqua. In Lapras's Feelings for its Friends it's revealed in a vision that after Lucius succeeded reaching Laqua, he said goodbye to his former companions, but promised he'd not die and that they'd meet again someday.

Lucius appeared again in a vision for Liko, Roy, and Friede in HZ023. This time, the mysterious adventurer was seen talking to Moltres about achieving something called "Rakua".
It's unknown what happened to Lucius after finding Laqua, but his Ancient Poké Balls were somehow scattered around the world along with his Pokémon.

In HZ024, Diana revealed that she found a diary in her childhood with memories of Lucius' adventures. She also revealed that Rakua is the name of the paradise that Lucius was looking for and that at some point Terapagos was with Lucius on this journey.

History

Pre-series

Lucius reaching Laqua

There is not much information about Lucius, but legends said that, around 100 years before the series, he was a Trainer who traveled through different regions and had several Legendary Pokémon as partners on his journey.

A group of his friends came to be collectively known as the Explorers and Lucius's Pokémon were collectively known as the Six Heroes. The main goal of all of them was to find a mysterious Pokémon paradise known as Laqua.

At some point on his journey, Lucius encountered Laqua. In Lapras's Feelings for its Friends it's revealed in a vision that after Lucius succeeded reaching Laqua, he said goodbye to his former companions, but promised he'd not die and that they'd meet again someday.

It's unknown what happened to Lucius after finding Laqua, but his Ancient Poké Balls were somehow scattered around the world along with his Pokémon.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

The still unnamed Ancient Adventurer was first mentioned by Roy when describing his feats to Liko in The Treasure After the Storm!.

He briefly appeared in a fantasy in The Ancient Poké Ball when Roy told his grandfather about his dreams.

Lucius's belt

A real vision of Lucius was first shown in The Future I Choose, just after the Rising Volt Tacklers helped restore a forest that had been destroyed by a wildfire, the Pokémon in Liko's pendant came to life. With Arboliva's assistance, the Pokémon showed Liko and Roy a vision of the past where Lucius asked Arboliva to look for something. Later, Liko and Roy read a book by Liko's father that told the history of Lucius's adventures, based on stories told by Liko's grandmother Diana.

Lucius appeared again in a vision for Liko, Roy, and Friede in Fiery Galarian Moltres. This time, the mysterious adventurer was seen talking to Moltres about achieving Laqua. In the next episode, Diana revealed that she found a diary in her childhood with memories of Lucius's adventures. She also revealed that Laqua is the name of the paradise that Lucius was looking for and that at some point Terapagos was with Lucius on this journey.

In Rivals in the Dark of Night!, Liko read Lucius' memories where he left a message inspiring people to live in harmony with Pokémon while together seeking a better future. Diana also revealed the identity of Lucius' remaining Pokémon that were lost around the world; Lapras, Kleavor, and Entei.

In Terapagos's Adventure, Diana showed Liko a photograph of Lucius. She also took advantage and gave her Lucius' belt where he carried his former companions' Poké Ball.

Lucius appeared in a fantasy in HZ057 alongside Terapagos while Raifort told Liko and her friends the story of Laqua.

Character

Photograph of Lucius

Although much of Lucius is based on legend and myth, his deeds have resonated for years, this meant that the stories of Lucius's deeds inspired several Trainers, such as Roy, Raifort, and Diana.

During the flashbacks in which he was seen, it was shown that Lucius has a deep connection with his Pokémon.

In From So Far Away, it was suggested that Gibeon has some sort of connection to Lucius, but the extent of this has not been fully shown yet.

Pokémon

Main article: Six Heroes

A hundred years ago, Lucius traveled with the Black Rayquaza and five other Pokémon he encountered throughout the various regions he traveled, working towards a single goal. Collectively, they are known as the Six Heroes, and each of them had a specific purpose. In an as-yet-unexplained way, Lucius's Poké Balls have been scattered around the world.

Lucius kept all his Pokémon (Except Terapagos) in Ancient Poké Balls.

In Reunion at the Ancient Castle!, Diana revealed that Terapagos traveled with Lucius at some point in his journey.
