:If it's in the middle of the actual evolve sequence when the time changes, then won't switch once the animation's started, it'll use the former time. I'd be interested to know precisely where in the sequence it actually checks the time, I'd guess it's when the battle ends and it checks to see whether any Pokémon have met the conditions to evolve. Which would mean that once it's in the evolve screen, it's already decided.

== "Eievui" - what on earth?! ==
Um, for the Japanese name of Eevee to be romanized as "Eievui" it would literally have to be エイエヴイ; last time I checked it was イーブイ, which romanizes as "iivui" (or "īvui", as Wikipedia standards would like for us to believe). == Evolution precedence ==
It has been established that location-based Eeveelutions take precedence over those with other level-up requirements. My question is: would an Eevee with high friendship as well as 2 Affection hearts and a Fairy-type move always only attempt to evolve into Sylveon upon leveling up, or is there maybe a 50-50 chance that it might instead become Espeon or Umbreon (depending on time of day)? My guess is that it might only become Espeon or Umbreon if the criteria for Eevee to become Sylveon are not present because it would be the more readily changeable condition; making a Pokémon forget a move is easier to accomplish than dragging down its friendship rating, right? :It would seem that Sylveon takes precedence over Espeon/Umbreon from several accounts I've heard while looking into this of people trying to get Sylveon having Eevee trying to evolve into Espeon/Umbreon until a fairy-type move is learned, which then causes Eevee to become Sylveon on the next level. Evolution precedence information should be added to the article.[[User:Dancinswords|Dancinswords]] ([[User talk:Dancinswords|talk]]) 06:52, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Eevee is similar the given name 'Eve'. The given name 'Eve' is 'Chava' [חַוָּה] in the original Hebrew. I know that if someone references pop culture as a pokemon origin in the biology section it will get removed due to the legal implications/speculation.
However, This topic has been brought up alot in Japanese forums in that Eevee shares many similarites with the Studio Ghibli Fox squirrel which debuted in

Here is a link comparing Teto the Fox Squirrel(1984) to Eevee(1996):

== Eevee's inspiration... ==
Hello all! I've recently been looking onto some mythology from around the world, and upon further research, I came across a Scandinavian legend that describes of a creature very similar to Eevee. It is known as the {{wp|Gulon}}.
From the description, it is basically a hodgepodge of various creatures, usually described as being the size and shape of a dog, with some cat like features such as the head, ears, and claws. It also supposedly has a thick coat of shaggy brown fur and a tail resembling that of a fox.
Eevee itself is a small creature physically resembling a kitten, but possesses minor traits (tail and fur) from foxes and dogs as well.
What do you think? Does it sound plausible enough?

Do The Eeveelutions Still Have A High Stat?
Are The Eeveelutions Still Following The Stats Where A Certain Evolution Has The Highest Stat Compared To The Family? For Example, Vapoureon Has The Highest HP Stat Tha All Of The Rest; Jolteon Has The Highest Speed Stat Than The Others. - Tesh -
- Look at their base stats. They're the same totals, they're just different as far as focus, so yes, all of them have one stat higher than the rest. --TTEchidna 04:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- ... except there's six stats and seven Eeveelutions, meaning two had to specialize in the same thing. Apparently, it's the Special Attack ones. --Pie ~♪♫ 05:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Which is what I meant by focus, since although Espeon and Glaceon both have the 130 in Special Attack, 95 in Special Defense, and 65 in HP, Attack, Defense, and Speed does differ. So really, if they do make nine more Eeveelutions, many will share the strongest stats, but there'd still be room for base stat variance. --TTEchidna 00:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Evolving into Leafeon and Glaceon
I thought when an you want to evolve Eevee into Leafeon or Glaceon, you had to be in the same patch of grass as the Mossy Rock or Frosty Rock. The information on doing so, at least in Eevee's article, says you just have to be in Eterna Forest or Route 217 to do it. So, which one is true? Superbreeder What's up? 00:09, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Level Up Evolutions
Does anyone know what happens if you level up a happy Eevee in (say) Eterna Forest during the day? Does the location or happiness evolution take precidence? In this example, would you get a Leafeon or an Espeon? I don't have the games so I can't test it. Werdnae 02:49, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- That is a pickle. I guess it would make sense to say the evolutionary path would be chosen at random with a 50/50 chance of getting Leafeon or Espeon.Bttsstewart 04:55, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Bttsstewart

- If it's in the middle of the actual evolve sequence when the time changes, then won't switch once the animation's started, it'll use the former time. I'd be interested to know precisely where in the sequence it actually checks the time, I'd guess it's when the battle ends and it checks to see whether any Pokémon have met the conditions to evolve. Which would mean that once it's in the evolve screen, it's already decided.
- Also, the change between day and night is different depending on what Generation game you're playing and what season it is (for Gen V). Full details can be found on our time page. Werdnae (talk) 03:03, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Um, for the Japanese name of Eevee to be romanized as "Eievui" it would literally have to be エイエヴイ; last time I checked it was イーブイ, which romanizes as "iivui" (or "īvui", as Wikipedia standards would like for us to believe). Evolution precedence
I♥Togetic (talk) 09:31, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- It would seem that Sylveon takes precedence over Espeon/Umbreon from several accounts I've heard while looking into this of people trying to get Sylveon having Eevee trying to evolve into Espeon/Umbreon until a fairy-type move is learned, which then causes Eevee to become Sylveon on the next level. Evolution precedence information should be added to the article.Dancinswords (talk) 06:52, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Should Charm and Covet even be in the Egg Moves section. Eevee learns them via lv up, why put those moves in the egg move section? Yamitora1 (talk) 09:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Normally Pokémon hatch with just their base moves, but Egg moves are moves that can potentially be passed down from their parents. Yes Eevee can learn Covet and Charm through level up, but they can also be passed down to offspring despite them not being starting moves. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 09:17, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

- They are listed if those moves only need one parent instead of both. A move is not an egg move if both parents are required to know the move for it to be passed down. Since Eevee only needs one parent to have those moves passed down, it's an egg move on top of being a level-up move. Kai * the Arc Toraph 13:42, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Plausible Trivia?
Would the following thought, better written, qualify as fan speculation, or valid trivia?
Eevee is similar the given name 'Eve'. The given name 'Eve' is 'Chava' [חַוָּה] in the original Hebrew. The root word from which 'Chava' is constructed can mean 'to give breath' or 'to give life' in Biblical Hebrew. This plausibly relates to the many pokemon into which Eevee can breath life. - unsigned comment from ABZB (talk • contribs)
Error in Trivia!
The Trivia on Eevee's page claims that "Eevee and Feebas are the only Pokémon that can evolve into a single stage through multiple methods in the core series." Studio Ghibli a Possible origin for Eevee
I know that if someone references pop culture as a pokemon origin in the biology section it will get removed due to the legal implications/speculation. However, This topic has been brought up alot in Japanese forums in that Eevee shares many similarites with the Studio Ghibli Fox squirrel which debuted in 1984.
Here is a link comparing Teto the Fox Squirrel(1984) to Eevee(1996): Eevee compared to Fox Squirrel Higher Resolution
They both share the same body type: standard quadruped build, mane, large ears, and fluffy tail.
What makes this coincidence special is the creator of this character is none other than Hayao Miyazaki. He is venerated in Japan as one of the greatest animators who ever lived. Foreign critics have given him the moniker "The Japanese Walt Disney". Source
Teto the fox squirrel(kitsunerisu/キツネリス) debuted in Studio Ghibi's first ever movie production "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". This movie marked the creation of Studio Ghibli. This animation studio has been cited as on of the most important forces/inspiration regarding anime and pop culture. This creature is said to be based on fennec fox, much like Eevee is speculated to be. Source
I brought this up in your forums before here is the link to the thread: Link to thread
I apologize for disturbing bulbagarden staff, but this reference to pop culture seems too blatant considering how Hayao Miyazaki is viewed as in Japan.

- It's hard for most Westerners (i.e., editors here) to truly appreciate whatever fame Miyazaki has in Japan; moreso, what fame Nausicaa and/or Teto may have. That is, it'd be much easier if you could just find some source that confirms they inspired Eevee. (I'm not suggesting such a source exists (or doesn't) currently, only that it would help.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:53, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- I tried perusing official sources from Gamefreak(interviews/transcripts) only to find nothing other than fan/forum discussion regarding the subject of Eevee. It seems Gamefreak is secretive about their design process which is typical of most Japanese companies; I just wanted to bring up the similarities between Eevee and Miyazaki's Fox Squirrel. This is due to Teto being modeled after Fennec fox/vulpines which would vindicate fan speculation that Eevee and its variants are indeed vulpine inspired. Unfortunately, as I cannot find concrete information from official sources the thesis I typed above does not meet Bulbapedia's standard of sourcing. I am sorry for taking up your time. Eevee's inspiration...
Hello all! I've recently been looking onto some mythology from around the world, and upon further research, I came across a Scandinavian legend that describes of a creature very similar to Eevee. It is known as the Gulon. Eevee's heart tail.
According to the Japanese sources for Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, the heart-tailed Eevee is exclusive to the player's starter Eevee (if picked female). They do said this trait isn't found on other female Eevee, making it an individual variant Pokémon. Special Stage Route (pit stop) 09:26, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Affection + Friendship
I've heard that these two stats where merged in generation VIII. That's why Eevee's evolution method would change.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 00:18, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Also, should XD methods of evolution be included if it is not mainline game?--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 23:12, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Why is Eevee even in this category? Pseudonym (talk) 15:01, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
EDIT: I realized the answer, never mind.
Heart-Tailed Eevee
I saw an Eevee with a heart on its tail and it's so cute!!! But why does it have a heart on its tail? I saw this in Pokemon Go, and I never saw anything like this in Ultra sun and Ultra Moon even though they use the same models as Pokemon go does. We might want to add it into this article if we find out. Mario60866 (talk) 09:04, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- "The marking on the tip of a female Partner Eevee's tail is heart-shaped. Before Pokémon Sword and Shield, this trait was unique and wasn't found on other female Eevee. In Pokémon Sword and Shield and later Pokémon GO updates, the unique tail pattern is present on all female Eevee as a true gender difference."

Pokemon Legends: Arceus
In terms of the location of Eevee in the game, there is no information as of now of Eevee's location in this game on Bulbapedia.
As far as I am aware in terms of personal experience with the game and checking YouTube for answers as well, Eevee seems to be mainly available at Horseshoe Plains. Keeree1686 (talk) 23:55, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Trivia about evolution
The trivia says "Eevee is the only Pokémon capable of evolving further that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with, though Azurill shared this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI." - I don't think that's true, since Cubone (Ground) can evolve into Alolan Marowak (Fire/Ghost). Or does that not count? - unsigned comment from Elchar (talk • contribs)
- It's not that there's *a* possible evolution that doesn't share the type, it's that none of the possible evolutions share the type. glikglak
- Could this be written in a simpler way then? Like: "Eevee is the only Pokémon that cannot keep any of its types when it evolves".--Rocket Grunt 19:53, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- "Eevee is the only unevolved Pokémon that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with, although Azurill shared this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI."
- "Eevee is the only unevolved Pokémon in which none of its evolutions share any types with it, although Azurill also had this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI."

- I think I prefer the former. Landfish7 23:48, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think the former still does not exclude Pokémon who cannot evolve at all. Technically, Kangaskhan also is an unevolved Pokémon that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with. TRG's suggestion seems to be simple; "Eevee is the only Pokémon to share no type with any of its evolutions" also is a possibility; I also think the current wording is fine.
