If you think you are Project Leader material, see the talk page.

Some Bulbapedia members have formed a project to better organize efforts to write and improve walkthroughs. If you would like to help, see the Bulbapedia:Project Walkthroughs/To-do list.

Project Walkthroughs

Scope and aims

Project Walkthroughs covers and aims to make articles that contain good quality step-by-step walkthroughs that help players as they progress through a game.

Participants

To join the project, simply add your name to the bottom of this list:

Structure of a page ("Pokémon ... Version")

Top

When focusing on a pair of older versions that have since been remade, the page should link to the target pair, the remake pair, and the appendix page for the remake pair's walkthrough.
This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Red and Blue Versions. This walkthrough follows the original Game Boy version, not Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.
The guide for those can be found here.

Headlines

Each route or city should be included in a level-2 headline.
== Pallet Town ==

Also, any important locations found within a route should be included in a level-3 headline within that route's section.
== Route 120 ==
=== Ancient Tomb ===

Images

There should be map image posted for every new location visited by the player. The image can be placed on either the left or right side of the page near that area's level-2 headline, and should use the "thumb" option to show a thumbnail of the larger image.
== Route 20 ==
[[Image:Route 20.png|thumb|right|Route 20]]

If the image needs to be shrunk/expanded to fit the page, then include ###px.

Trainers

{| class="expandable" align="right" style="background: #{{gamename color light}};
 -moz-border-radius: 1em; border: 5px solid #{{gamename color light}};"
|- align="center"
! Trainers
|-
|
Put Trainer information table here,
which can be pulled straight from the location pages.
|}
The Trainer battle information should be included wherever a Trainer battle can take place, and should be placed on the left side of the page.

Pokémon

Every location where the player can obtain a Pokémon, wild or gift, should include the following details for each:
  • name
  • encounter rate
  • level(s)
  • area details, such as Grass, Cave, Fishing, Surfing, etc.
This information, taken from the specific location's page, should be placed on the collapsible background, colored according to the version(s).

When time of day is not used

Locations in Kanto and Hoenn, and other areas where time of day does not affect encounter rates, should use this template:

{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #{{gamename color light}};
-moz-border-radius: 1em; border: 5px solid #{{gamename color light}};"
|- align="center"
! Available Pokémon
|-
|
Put the Pokémon information table here,
which can be pulled straight from the location pages.
|}

When time of day is used

Locations in Johto and Sinnoh, and other areas where time of day does affect encounter rates, should use the following template instead:

{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #{{gamename color light}};
-moz-border-radius: 1em; border: 5px solid #{{gamename color light}};"
|- align="center"
! Available Pokémon
|-
|
Put the Pokémon information table here,
which can be pulled straight from the location pages.
|}

Each group of Pokémon should be listed with the highest encounter rate first, and decreasing from there. If more than one Pokémon species have the same percent, they should then be listed in National Dex order.

Bosses

Gym battles

Each section that focuses on a city's Gym should use the following, which includes the Gym name, badge image, junior Trainer(s), and Gym Leader.
{| align="center"
|- align="center" valign="top"
|
{| align="center" style="background: #{{typename color}};
 -moz-border-radius: 1em; border: 5px solid #{{typename color light}};"

The rival

The rival's party should be lined up horizontally across the page, in order to avoid the extra unused space and stretching the page out.
