Trivia

  • Both of Yanakkie's Pokédex entries mention its violent temper and its tendency to attack with its thorny tail.
  • In spite of Yanakkie's tendency to attack using its thorny tail, it cannot learn any tail based moves.

Origin

It is based on a monkey, a tree, and the Bōsōzoku style. Yanakkie, along with its two contemporaries, seem to be based on the three wise monkeys motif. Yanappu, with its mouth closed, represents "Speak No Evil."

Name origin

Yanakkie's name may come from 柳 yanagi, meaning willow, and from monkey. It is also probably a pun on the word "Yankee", another term for the Bōsōzoku subculture.
