Softboiled (Japanese: タマゴうみ Egg Lay) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. Notably, when contained in TM41, it was the least-usable TM as it was only useable on two Pokémon. It is the signature move of Chansey and Blissey.
Effect
In battle
Softboiled restores up to 50% of the user's current HP.
Softboiled will fail if the difference between the user's current and maximum HP is 0, or if (user's maximum HP - user's current HP) mod 256 = 255. If the user's current HP is greater than its maximum HP, Softboiled will set the user's current HP to equal its maximum HP.
In Stadium, Softboiled will fail only when the difference between the user's current and maximum HP is 0.
Outside of battle
Similar to Milk Drink, Softboiled can also be used outside of battle to take away some HP from the user and restore another party Pokémon's HP.

Trivia
- Mew is the only non-Normal type to learn Softboiled, and can only learn Softboiled by TM or move tutor.
- Clefairy and Clefable are capable of learning Softboiled via move tutor in Generation III, but are incompatible with the TM in Generation I.
- Although Softboiled is available in Emerald as a move tutor move, no Pokémon obtainable in the game can learn it without the use of trading or a certain event item used to catch Mew.
