| Its name seems to be a corruption of 灯火 ''tomoshibi'', lamplight, 火 hi, meaning "fire", and possibly from Hitodama.
| | Hitomoshi seems to come from 火点し ''hitomoshi'', which means to light a lamp, or the person who leads a funeral procession in Japan with a torch, matchingh its Pokédex entry saying it leads people astray and then sucks out their life force. |
