Present (Japanese: プレゼント Present) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation II. It is the signature move of Delibird.
Effect
Generation II
Present has two different effects. Present can either deal damage against the target or heal the target by 80 HP.
If Present deals damage, then the base power of Present is chosen at random between 40, 80 and 120. If Present chooses to heal the target, it will heal the foe.
|
In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the level, Attack, and Defense variables of the damage formula are replaced. The Attack variable is replaced with 10. The level will be based on the index number of the defending Pokémon's type, while the Defense will be based on the index number of the attacking Pokémon's type (if a Pokémon is dual-typed, its secondary type will be used). Also, Present only inflicts a quarter of the normal damage against Rock-type and Steel-type Pokémon.
|
In Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon Stadium 2, Present uses the standard damage formula.
Generation III and beyond
Present works as it does in Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon Stadium 2.
Generation V
Present consumes a Normal Gem even if it heals the enemy.

Trivia
- When a Pokémon uses Present in the anime, it gives the foe a glowing ball that deals damage. However, in the games, the move has been classed as a Physical move. This is probably because most 'explosive' moves are considered physical.
- Present is one of three moves that can heal the opponent. The others are Pain Split and Heal Pulse.
- However, the only move which has a sure chance of healing the target is Heal Pulse.
