Behavior
It is hightly territorial. The way it behaves makes it often appear in the anime and even a fair few fanfictions, making for tense runaway scenes: Beedrill is quick, so it's extremely hard to avoid its beatings after approaching its nest.

In the anime
Beedrill's first non-cameo appearance was in Challenge of the Samurai, where a swarm of them stole Ash's Metapod.

In The Lost Lapras, an obnoxious trainer who was attacking a Lapras had a Beedrill.
Ash captured a Beedrill in the Bug-Catching Contest, but gave it to Casey.
Jimmy of New Bark Town owns a Beedrill.
During Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, The Phantom used two of these Poison Bee Pokémon to chase our heroes.
A Beedrill is used in the PokéRinger Contest in That's Just Swellow.
Beedrill also has many other roles in the anime and has appeared in a lot of episodes, mostly portraying an antagonist to Ash and crew. They are usually attacked by a swarm and end up running for their lives.
In the manga
In Pokémon Special one of Giovanni's most treasured and strongest team members is a Beedrill he caught in his childhood from Viridian Forest. It is also one of the few members of his team that isn't a Ground-type.
In the TCG
Six Beedrill cards have been released.
- Base Set: Beedrill
- Gym Challenge: Koga's Beedrill
- Neo Discovery: Beedrill
- Skyridge: Beedrill and Beedrill
- EX FireRed and LeafGreen: Beedrill
In the TFG
One Beedrill figure has been released.
Other appearances
Super Smash Bros.
Beedrill was in the first Super Smash Bros. game. When a Pokéball was opened, one would come out and fly away. A few seconds later a whole swarm would fly by and attack everyone on the field except the user. It did not appear again in Super Smash Bros. Melee and its role was taken over by Unown.
