Additional effects are the secondary effects of some, mainly damaging, moves that causes extra changes to the opponent.
Additional effects include recoil damage, stat changes and inflicting status conditions. Some moves have two secondary effects. For example, Flare Blitz causes recoil damage to the user and also has a chance to burn the opponent.
Items and abilities are not considered additional effects, but three abilities either negate or help the additional effects. The three abilities are: Serene Grace, Sheer Force, and Shield Dust.
