Red stepping on spinners in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

A spinner is a tile featured in Pokémon Red and Blue, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Pokémon X and Y. The official name for this tile, if there is one, is unknown. This tile, when stepped upon, will move the player in the direction of the arrows depicted on it. The player will continue to travel in that direction until they hit a wall, land on another spinner (which will send them in a different direction), or land on a stopper tile, a tile only used for that purpose. The name 'spinner' comes from the fact that the player is spun around while traveling.

Locations

Spinners are generally associated with Team Rocket, and are first found in the Rocket Hideout, where they form a complex maze that the player must work out to navigate the building. Other places with spinners involving Team Rocket include the Rocket Warehouse and Viridian Gym. Interestingly, Viridian Gym continues to use spinners in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, despite Blue being the Gym Leader in Generation IV rather than Giovanni.

In Hoenn, they appear in the Trick House and Mossdeep GymRS. In Sinnoh, they appear inside the Fuego Ironworks.

After being absent in Unova, spinner and stopper titles make a return in Kalos, and are found in Lysandre Labs.
