In the [[SM088]], "Nebby" was consistently referred to as Solgaleo. I'm pretty sure this was the case in the Lusamine arc after it evolved. I believe in anime canon, the nickname has been dropped altogether. Evolution

I think it's kind of weird that instead of having both Solgaleo and Lunala, it changes depending on the time of day. In Sun and Moon, you can get the one exclusive to the version, even if it's night or day, respectively. Either way, it's limiting to only show one: it doesn't tell us that it can evolve into either depending on the version. I have a template in my userspace User:Celadonkey/NebbyInfobox that could be moved to the mainspace and used here. --Celadonkey 13:24, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

I strongly agree. Switches have already been depreciated on most of our pages for this exact reason: it's highly confusing to users who don't know that it switches, which are the vast majority of Bulbapedia's audience. IMO, the staff must mainspace your template or a similar one. It's ridiculous to use a switch here. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:00, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Can anyone tell me if there are other pages about game-exclusive Pokemon "characters" that actually use the anime infobox...? Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:32, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
As far as I'm aware, this is the first core series only Pokémon NPC we have. Chosen changed it to the anime infobox, presumably because yes, all Pokémon characters have it as well. Nescientist (talk) 16:57, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
I was taking a look a that, and told myself maybe it was a small mistake or that somebody forgot this detail, but when I went to the editor noticed the switch. So, what should be done? can it be just added by anyone or maybe we should wait for the team in charge of this page to make a decision?--Godshawk (talk) 06:12, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Splash and Teleport

I don't want to persuade anyone that we know Nebby didn't know Splash and Teleport as a Cosmog, but I doubt we know it did.

  • Splash: Yes, Lillie commands it to use Splash in front of the Dimensional Research Lab. Nebby's reaction, however, is just "Pew?"
  • Teleport: We see a light from Lillie's bag in the opening cutscene, and we have this in Lillie's diary:
Nebby shone brighter than anything... And before I knew what had happened, we had found our way to meet Professor Burnet. But how did we get there? Is it some strange power that Nebby has? Did it do this?

When we look at Cosmog's moveset, yes, it's possible it knows Splash and Teleport. When seeing how Nebby has an unusual moveset when caught, however, I think it could also be some abstract mysterious power. Nescientist (talk) 21:53, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Considering that those are the only two moves that Cosmog can possibly learn, Nebby must know at least one of them... Since Lillie commanded Nebby to use Splash in game, and it's never stated that its teleportation power is Teleport, I'd say that's the most realistic option. --Celadonkey 22:09, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm hesitant on that line of logic, Celadonkey. You're making an assumption that a story-only NPC (which Nebby is, as a Cosmog) has to follow the same "must know at least one move" rule that battleable Pokémon must follow, but it's entirely possible that this is just a requirement of the battle system and not an intrinsic lore part of the Pokémon universe. And even if we say for the sake of argument that Nebby must know a move, Bulbapedia's standard is not to assume things, and we don't know for sure which move. I agree with Nescientist. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:05, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
That's fair. I mean, I don't really care too much on the subject, but I think that if we're accepting Hau's calling Meowth "Kantonian", I think we should accept Nebby being able to learn splash, or at least something like "Nebby is commanded to use Splash by Lillie". But like I said, this isn't gonna be an issue I'm going to argue about. --Celadonkey 11:10, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Internet meme

I figured this is worth bringing up since something similar exists on the page for Mudkip. Basically, like Mudkip, Nebby has become the source of an internet meme which in this case is "Get in the bag Nebby". So does anyone this is worth mentioning on the page? Like I said, I'm only bringing this up because of Mudkip and I honestly don't expect anyone to say yes. - unsigned comment from Flain (talkcontribs)

I support this personally. It's relevant (as in when you think about Nebby people do think of the meme) and is a relatively popular Pokémon meme. We also have Youngster Joey's Rattata and Lavender Town in trivia as well. I just feel while notability is occasionally a good thing we risk omitting information that's true that some people may find interesting based on subjective notability criteria that varies from person to person. This said if we are too lax on notability it could lead to too much information being added to trivia but I feel Nebby in the bag is worth mentioning. --Chickasaurus (talk) 08:14, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm not really in the meme "scene" or anything, but as far as I know, Mudkip's meme has more or less earned/maintained its notoriety long since its main games came out. By contrast, I think it's not too surprising for a meme to be popular when it starts, like this Nebby meme, when SM has only been out for a few months. If it survives for a year or few, that's a bit more compelling.
I'm not certain what Lavender Town trivia is being referred to. But the Joey trivia about "top percentage of Rattata" is absolutely nothing I've ever heard of (which, on the one hand, yeah, I don't know memes; but if I had heard of it, that would say a lot about it too). I'd be for removing that one. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:52, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
To be honest, if we have a thing about Marshtomp being a meme, which I don't remember being that big, but the "nebby in the bag" was pretty big. And the Joey thing was pretty big too.
For what it's worth, here are google search trends for four Pokémon memes. I'm not too big on memes so I don't really know the proper search terms but these are the ones that seemed logical to me. [1] --Celadonkey 14:06, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
The Nebby meme is too recent to be notable. The Mudkip meme has been around for ages, and is still notorious (I would say relevant, but that'd be the wrong word), as many people tend to use it whenever Mudkip is involved. The Top percentage meme has the same noteriety. The Lavender meme is not even a meme, but a rumor. So give the Nebby meme a few years, if it comes a thing that people associate with Cosmog in a few years time, then it'd be notable.--ForceFire 14:10, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Another consideration is perhaps how widely these things are "really" known. I'm not sure a meme that's popular mostly just in Pokemon communities should be that notable, but if a meme can be pretty well recognized outside of fandom niches, that's worth more. In my very limited experience, only the Mudkip meme reaches the latter tier. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:16, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm a big Pokemon fan, and I have been for as long as I can remember, so it's not in my place to say which memes are relevent outside of the Pokemon community, because honestly, I don't spend too much time outside of it.
I would agree with ForceFire if not for the creepy Marshtomp meme, which wasn't nearly as popular as Get in the bag, Nebby, but was added a mere three months after the release of ORAS (the meme started November 22nd, 2014, according to Know Your Meme) and was not removed. --Celadonkey 19:23, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
I wouldn't use a singular site to determine what's popular. Look around forums, threads, or Youtube comments and see what memes are often used when a certain Pokemon is involved. I have not seen the creepy Marshtomp meme a whole lot, unlike the top percentage or Mudkip meme, which gets thrown around quite a bit.
As for the meme being used outside of the Pokémon community. Eh. Memes that are specific to a series or fandom don't usually get widespread notice, unlike the non-fandom related memes. So expecting something like that would probably be a pipe dream.--ForceFire 03:05, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
I agree that how widely a meme is known should be considered (I don't want any Pokémon meme here), but I agree with ForceFire that a requirement to outside of Pokémon community seems too harsh—much of what is canon isn't known outside the Pokémon community, and things like pseudo-legendary Pokémon aren't either.
The connection here is Nebby-meme not Cosmog-meme, just how it is Joey-meme not Youngster-meme (which btw I knew, and I'm not into meme business either). That connection is less likely to decay imo (also, I'm not too sure long-time effects should be a criterion). I wouldn't oppose it being added. Nescientist (talk) 09:57, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Hypothetical

If Nebby does appear in the anime, which who knows if it will, how will this page be altered to suit that if it's altered at all? Pikatwig (talk) 21:40, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

It would get an anime section, similar to other Pokemon in the anime. --Celadonkey 23:19, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Use of Supersonic

When Nebby begins to sob and cause a soundwave, the Rotomdex says 'chōonpa', which is the Japanese name for Supersonic. Pikatwig (talk) 04:31, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

It's just a comparison. Ataro (talk) 05:43, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Evolution Template

This was obviously already mentioned above and has been since dwindled down, but I'm gonna bring it up again. It's currently showing Cosmog > Cosmoem > Solgaleo, as that's just what has happened in the anime, and before that has happened the template just had a switch between Lunala and Solgaleo. Nebby is too major of a character to only include one, let alone the anime specific version of the Nebby. I suggest to either use the template that Celadonkey created and m, currently in place, template. TrainerSplash (talk) 04:16, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

What? The page is still on a switch, you can see it if you check the source code. Ataro (talk) 04:39, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
I actually didn't know that, I did check it originally when it was first done, but every time I came back I only saw it as Solgaleo, so I guess I thought a decision based on the anime was done. But I guess my point remains, a switch isn't a viable thing to do as we mentioned before, and something about it needs to be done. TrainerSplash (talk) 05:06, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
I wholeheartedly agree... If Nebby can evolve into both Solgaleo and Lunala both should be visible at all times. --Celadonkey 19:07, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
