Changes the Pokémon's type depending on the terrain.

Mimicry (Japanese: ぎたい Mimicry) is an Ability introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature Ability of Galarian Stunfisk.

Effect

385Jirachi.png This Ability effect may be in need of research.
Reason: If a Pokémon with Mimicry is Grass-type due to Forest's Curse, and then Grassy Terrain is used, what happens to the Forest's Curse Grass typing? Does the effect disappear (unlike other cases)? Does the Pokémon have the Grass type twice?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

In battle

Depending on the terrain, Mimicry will change the type of a Pokémon with this Ability. Its type changes as follows:

When terrain ends, the Pokémon reverts to its original typing. (Transformed Pokémon with Mimicry revert to their own original typing before transforming, not the typing of the Pokémon it transformed into.)

Mimicry activates after the Pokémon with Mimicry is switched in while terrain is present, or whenever there is a change in terrain; changing the Pokémon's type by other means (such as via Soak) overrides the type caused by Mimicry.

Mimicry will activate regardless of whether the Pokémon with Mimicry is grounded or not.

If the Pokémon with Mimicry has an additional type due to Forest's Curse or Trick-or-Treat, when terrain triggers Mimicry, it will only change its regular types and not affect the additional types.

Outside of battle

Mimicry has no effect outside of battle.
