Shogakukan | Chapter 1 in Vol. 1 |
Series | Pokémon Zensho |
Location | Pallet Town |
(Japanese: プロローグマサラタウン Prologue: Masara Town) is the prologue of the Pokémon Zensho manga.
Plot
While searching around for his first Pokémon, Satoshi is attacked by a flock of Pidgey. Professor Oak and his Charmander intervene, burning one of the Pidgey and scaring the rest away.
Prof. Oak takes Satoshi to his lab, where Oak's anxious grandson and Satoshi's rival Shigeru waits. Oak shows Satoshi three Poké Balls, and tells him to choose one of three first partner Pokémon: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmander. Satoshi chooses the Charmander which had saved him earlier, so Shigeru chooses Squirtle and Oak keeps the Bulbasaur.
Shigeru challenges Satoshi to a battle. Charmander attacks, but it's ineffective against Shigeru's Squirtle. Squirtle shoots water out of its mouth while Charmander dodges. Then Satoshi orders Charmander to tackle which instantly wins the battle. While Satoshi cheers his first victory, Prof. Oak gives Shigeru and Satoshi Pokédexes, and explains to them what the Pokédex does.
