Hippopotas (Japanese: ヒポポタス Hipopotas) is a Ground-type Pokémon first seen in the Generation IV games.
Biology
Physiology
Hippopotas are relatively small earth-colored creatures that are most commonly found in arid places. They spends their time bathing in sand and avoid water at all costs. The Hippo Pokémon also have large mouths with big teeth. One of their more interesting features is that they can shoot jets of sand from ports on their bodies and presumably from their large nostrils. This makes their habit somewhat similar yet completely different from their real world counterpart.
Gender differences
Female Hippopotas is dark brown with sand-colored highlights, the male's colors are reversed.
Special abilities
Hippopotas can create a large amount of sand. Although the amount is unknown, it could be unlimited. Hippopotas also have a powerful set of jaws for using Bite and Crunch. For some odd reason, this Pokémon is capable of learning Water Pulse.
Like most other Template:Type2 Pokémon, Hippopotas can cause Earthquakes and attack with several Rock-based attacks.
Hippopotas is one of the few Pokémon that can learn Slack Off.
