Krabby (Japanese: クラブ Crab) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves into Kingler at level 28.
Biology
Physiology
Krabby resembles the creature they are based on, the crab. Krabby's top half is a Template:A2 that is orange in color. Krabby has a pair of large pincers that it uses as powerful weapons. Krabby's pincers are also used for balance when it walks sideways.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
If a Krabby loses a pincer in battle, it will completely grow back in a short period of time.
Behavior
On beaches where food is hard to come by, Krabby can be seen squabbling with each other over territory. When Krabby sense imminent danger, they will cloak themselves with bubbles from its mouth in an attempt at looking bigger and more intimidating.
Habitat
Krabby live on beaches, burrowed inside holes dug into the sand.
Diet

Krabby are known as scavengers and feed on whatever debris they happen upon in their environment. If food is too scarce, Krabby will also eats mouthfuls of sand to obtain nutrients.
In the anime
Gary Oak has a larger-than-average Krabby, which has never been seen in battle.
Ash captured a Krabby in Mystery at the Lighthouse. It was transferred to Professor Oak's lab. Ash didn't use Krabby until Round One - Begin!.
After defeating an Exeggutor in its first battle, Krabby evolved into a Kingler.
In the second movie, The Power of One, a joke is told where the punch line is "At least I don't have Krabbies!"
In the manga
Red catches a Krabby in Pokémon Special which he trades for Misty's Gyarados. Misty later saves a Krabby trapped in Tohjo Falls in Template:PSV. This act of kindness prompts Suicune to pick Misty as his trainer, besides her being the expert for Water-type Pokémon.

- Most of Krabby's sprites are symmetrical.
- In Generation II, Krabby's Template:Shiny2 sprite was dark gold in color, but starting from Generation III, it became a much lighter yellow.

It is based upon a crab.
Name origin
Krabby's name is a misspelling of crabby, which means grouchy or ill-tempered. Its Japanese name is simply crab.
