Yeah go ahead, just give credit where credit is due, or just follow the steps that I put on the template page (I assume you meant that one). - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:40, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll give credit to you, for sure, though i was thinking of the first big one the page that also shows your custom trainer sprite. To be more specific, it also shows some user tags and says that you don't need to archive your talk page. Though, I'll have to alter it to be for me, huh? Hi...

I was wondering if you could help me out with something. The article Serebii.net forums has been under strict protection since 2005. It serves little purpose, and any information it contains could easily be merged into the Serebii.net article. I was wondering if you could help by deleting the article because of your admin status.

Thanks --MiekL94 22:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Merged what was even useful, and redirected to Serebii.net. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Concerning anti-gunjump measures for the dub...

Setting protection to expire at around 10:00 UTC (the standard time for Japanese-based anti-gunjump measures) for a dub-based anti-gunjump measure is just begging for gun-jumpers to take advantage of a three-hour window. The dub episodes premiere at 9:00 AM Eastern, which corresponds to 13:00 UTC during DST and 14:00 UTC when DST is not in effect. I've already adjusted the protections for DP101 to fit with the dub airtime, but keep this in mind for the future. --Shiningpikablu252 14:23, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

I was matching the time placed on Jun, that was there at the time. Please note I don't get Cartoon Network, as I am not an American, and don't keep track of stations I do not have any ability to watch. The initial mistake was not mine, as I can see you have noticed and acted upon. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:42, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Archives

I noticed a few efficient changes you made to the Archives--I haven't had time to make any new/recent contribs, et al--But I would like to help clean up the Archives a bit. How do I go about getting sufficiently privileged to help with the organization? Kusanagi87 22:08, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

  1. Work hard.
  2. Work really hard.
  3. Do really good work.
  4. Don't edit the userspace on any Bulbawiki too much.
  5. Don't ask how to get privileges/user rights.
And yeah... Just show that you deserve it, without asking about it. It's not going to happen overnight, but if you can prove yourself to the Editorial Board, it may happen eventually. There are still things you can do as a regular user though. There's a lot of images that need replacing due to quality standards, that would be a great place to start helping out :D - Kogoro | Talk to me - 22:17, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
I believe we have a lot of images that are uncategorized as well; if you find an image category that doesn't seem to have every image in it, that's definitely something we could use help on in the Archives. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:56, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Do I need to get certain categories approved before I go about creating them? I was thinking the archives should have file naming standards. It is a noticeable pain in the ass to get proper results from image searches; as people put irrelevant info in the summary or give bad nomenclature for the actual file name. It would be infinitely easier to categorize images if they turned up easier/accurately on searches. Furthermore, if there were stricter rules for how people upload, the chaotic shit storm that is the Archives can be controlled NOW. Just random thoughts, BTW. Also, I could care less about any admin status/privileges--there were just some actions that I wanted to take within the archives that I wanted to initiate that were inhibited due to the lack of higher clearance(s). Kusanagi87 04:58, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
If there is something you cannot do on the forums, leave a message on the appropriate talk page and an administrator will get onto it. And as for the standard file names, that is a work in progress. Categories should be generally straight forward, but it may be best to check with Maverick Nate before doing that, as he is the "boss" over there. For list of all categories, see a:Special:Categories. — THE TROM — 07:16, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Edit-waring

I am sorry that I caused a lot of strife over this, it's just that it seemed wrong for someone to remove that piece of trivia in the first place just because said user didn't agree with it. My entire argument was "That my be your opinion and that's alright, but it's not everyone's view so it should stay." I realise how ironic that sounds, but I still stand for this. Sorry for being a bother! Fossilgojira 15:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Show Hide

I'v been wondering how to show hide stuff, if you would't mind telling me i'd like to know.Pikawitchu 18:19, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Just use:

{| width="100%" class="expandable"
|
Title for the expandable section should go here.
|-
|
The content you want to be show/hide should then go here
|}

You might have to play with it a little depending on what you're trying to show/hide. Usually if it's already a coded table (like the Welcome that is put on everyone's talk page) you can usually just add class="expandable" to the table's head code and it will become expandable. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Kogoro. Can we... um... be friends?

Kogoro, your page looks awesome, so i'd like to ask you something: (1.) how can i make my page look black and gray with white text, and (2.) how do i put images in my signature? And i wanna know if we can be friends, too. You seem real nice. And you have a lot of style. - unsigned comment from Jbtm (talkcontribs)

I was going to ask the same thing. Again, apologies for causing so much trouble (and for accidently spamming, blame it on my impatience:P). I want to be friends. Oh, and Jbtm, sign your comments. Alpha Totodile 22:34, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Alpha, Jbtm is blocked... He was a sockpuppet of a user blocked for insubordination, so telling him to sign his messages is kinda pointless. ^_^; On the mention of friends. The best way to become my friend (and likely the friend of any other administrator), is to make many many many constructive edits. List of Pokémon by effort value yield

I finally saw the edit history. How did I mess the table up? I took a look at the old edit and saw nothing wrong with it. Alpha Totodile 22:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

When you moved the Speed EVs to the end of the stats, you actually broke some entries with the EVs being under the wrong Stat. The table will be replaced with easier to use entry templates soon enough. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 22:56, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, so that's why it's protected... I thought by "messed the table up", you meant I did something wrong with how the table was supposed to look. Alpha Totodile 23:01, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Your userspace

How do I make my page blue with black borders? Alpha Totodile 18:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I disagree with this rationale

Shouldn't it be "As long as there are no problems with disruptive edits (either actual edits or damage control), pages don't need protection"? --Raijinili 08:22, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

It's protected because it doesn't need to be edited.--FF(editstalk) 08:24, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
That obviously wasn't the case in the last few hours. --Raijinili 08:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
If it wasn't protected, what will you edit on it.--Clarky13 08:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Hardly the point. There's no evidence that vandalism is a problem on that page, and if there is a sudden wave of vandalism, that page isn't high-profile enough to be a cause for preemptive concern (since it's not high-profile at all). --Raijinili 08:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Raijinili, did you not notice that before that, TTEchidna protected it with the rationale of "Until we decide to bring these back. Which will likely be sometime soon after PtUS is announced.". Since they are not being opened for now, the protection is now indefinite. There is no need for anyone who is not an admin to edit the page until we decide to re-open them. Quit complaining. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 08:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't talk to me as if I was ignorant about the suspension of the process when the only reason you remembered this page was because I updated the page indicating the suspension of the process.
And while you can say "I can see no need for a non-admin to edit the page at this time", I can say "There is no need whatsoever to lock the page other than the fact that no one can see a need to not lock it." --Raijinili 08:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Why are you making a big deal out of it anyway, it's protect, who cares.--FF(editstalk) 08:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Raijinili, please don't edit above another comment.--Clarky13 08:57, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Despite my red ink, I'm not a newbie, Clarky. If you're going to claim I'm doing something wrong, show me where it says it's wrong. That's a thread style: to edit, indented, under the person you're responding to, with one more indent than the comment (even if it's the same level as another's response to the same comment). It's the way most naturally suited to a wiki, since quotes are cumbersome and responses can be read right underneath what they're responding to.
Force Fire: I'm "making a big deal about it" because this seems to me to be an indication that there's a consensus to lock when it's not necessary either way. --Raijinili 09:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Um.... I think you've completely missed the point here, Raiji. While it is an unwritten policy to protect most Bulbapedia-space pages from normal editing (as they are mostly based on the administration of the wiki), you appear to be complaining about the point that you've helped us out by pointing out something we've forgotten. Wowza! Yay! Kudos to you! So please please please stop making a fuss about all of this. You say you aren't a new user, yet you clearly haven't been here long enough to pick up on some of the more subtle intricacies of the management here. I have only one thing to say to you, passed down from the Echidna to me, and now to you: LURK MOAR. — THE TROM — 09:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
My first edit is over a year before yours, if you want to talk about how long people have been here. Would you like to try my number of mainspace contributions instead? Either way, it's an ad hominem argument, and you haven't actually addressed my point: There's no reason to lock topics not in danger of vandalism and which wouldn't harm the Wiki much even if they were vandalized. "It's the way we've been doing it" is as good a reason for this as it is for, say... y'know, there are just way too many ways that sentence can end, it's ridiculous.
And I stated why I'm doing this: because it indicates a trend of unnecessary preemptive locking. --Raijinili 12:44, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
What reason is there to NOT have it protected? Any edits made to the page by anyone other then an administrator would either be spelling corrections (which aren't currently needed), or redlink fixing (which also isn't currently needed). The only time it will be updated will be when administration decides to re-open nominations, and as such, only an administrator should be editing the page. With the page protected, this makes it impossible for anyone to make a mistake.
Just to make it perfectly clear, we are discussing whither or not a currently unused page should be protected from edits. That is, a page that needs no editing currently, and further, should not be edited currently. If you still see a reason why this needs to be unprotected, then by all means, let us know. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 16:54, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
The preemptive locking ensures that the page can not be vandalized or changed in anyway. We dont want people to go and vote for old nominations, or continue discussions there. We dont want people changing the policies of the site. and why would they need to be unlocked? why do you need to edit a page thats official policy, or a nomination from months ago? And BTW, when you first edited doesnt mean crap. The Quality of your edits does.User:DCM 16:57, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Jio: I can accept "mistakes" as a reason.
DCM: Pay attention. Trom specifically challenged me about my newness. You're taking the "first edit" links out of context. --Raijinili 03:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
As a page within the Bulbapedia: namespace, it's not a page in need of updates or fixing from anyone other then Bulbapedia staff. The admins here are more then capable of fixing mistakes themselves.
The nominations page falls into the same category as our policies and guidelines (one could say the nominations page is a "nominations policy"), and as a general rule, those pages are all protected just to be completely safe. The nominations page only needs to be open to edits when nominations are open, and currently, they're not. So the page will remain protected. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 17:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Broken SVGs?

(Not sure who to ask for this, so if you could point me in the right direction, that'd be great. ^_^) I've traced a number of TCG expansion symbols in Illustrator, and was thinking of uploading them all as SVGs, which is sort of like what Wikipedia likes to do for this kind of thing, except that the image previews turn out broken, making them useless in every practical sense. I don't know if this is a Wikia issue or what, but is it possible to fix? --Alamedyang (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

SVGs don't work with the Bulbawikis. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it is due to an extension not being installed, or something to that degree. So, as far as I know, it has nothing to do with Wikia, or Wikipedia. Also, what do you mean by "traced a number of TCG expansion symbols"? If the images aren't official release, I'm pretty sure they shouldn't be used in articles unless they're set symbols we don't have any way of obtaining. I'd suggest talking to Maverick Nate about your images and see if he wants them to use, if he does, you would need to upload them in PNG format. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 16:40, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. What I meant by "traced" is that I took a huge scan of a card, like at 600 DPI, and very carefully traced a vector version of the expansion symbol. I dunno. I just thought vector > bitmap for stuff like this. But I'll talk to Maverick Nate. Thanks for your help! :) --Alamedyang (talk) 16:58, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
