In other games

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Aura Sphere is Lucario's standard Special move. Like most of its moves, Aura Sphere is more powerful if Lucario has taken more damage.

If the opponent runs into Lucario while it is charging the sphere, the opponent also takes damage.

In the anime

A ball of aura is released by the user after charging it.
Pokémon Method
User First Used In Notes
Lucario A blue-green ball forms in front of Lucario's hand. Lucario then fires at its opponent. The size of the sphere can vary depending on how long Lucario charges the ball.

Trivia

  • Its appearance, description, and typing closely resemble the Hadouken technique from Street Fighter and loosely resemble the Kamehameha from the Dragon Ball series as Kamehameha is a wave-type move while Hadouken and Aura Sphere are spherical moves.
  • Lucario and Togekiss are the only non-legendary Pokémon that can learn Aura Sphere by level up.
  • The Mew from Mewtwo Strikes Back seemed to be able to use Aura Sphere, though this may have been merely a deflection of Mewtwo's attack; it's also likely that it was Shadow Ball, the same move Mewtwo was using.
  • The booster pack of Legends Awakened has a Lucario using Aura Sphere. However, this Aura Sphere was a more greenish shade of color, while the anime always shows Lucario making a blue Aura Sphere.
  • Aura Sphere is the most recognized move that Lucario uses and the most recognized move that uses aura.
  • Lucario and Riolu are the only Template:Type2 Pokémon that can use Aura Sphere, and therefore, they are the only Pokémon that get a STAB boost with it, but, since only an event Riolu can learn it, Lucario is the only readily available in-game Pokémon that gets a STAB boost from Aura Sphere.
  • Of all the moves which cannot miss, Aura Sphere has the greatest base power.
  • In the anime, the color of Aura Sphere appears to match the color of the Pokémon using it. Lucario and Riolu have a blue one, while Palkia has a pink one. Whether this applies to other Pokémon that can use it is currently unknown.
