Blaziken (Japanese: バシャーモ Bashamo) is a dual-type Fire/Fighting Pokémon.
It evolves from Combusken starting at level 36. It is the final form of Torchic.
Biology
Physiology
Blaziken is mostly red in coloration, with accentuations of beige, yellow, and gray. Blaziken appears to have long, beige-colored hairlike extensions behind its head, continuing downward to envelop some of its chest and abdomen. Blaziken’s small, red-colored face is almost completely covered in feathers. It has a crest on its head with two points, which resembles the letter "V". Blaziken has three spiky extensions on the sides of its face, much like Gardevoir’s. Blaziken’s eyes are semicircular in shape, with yellow schleras and blue irises, and the tip of Blaziken’s mouth is hooked like a beak. The continuation of the ‘hair’ from its head on its chest and abdomen makes Blaziken appear as if it's wearing a sleeveless jacket on its torso. Blaziken’s strong, muscular legs give it immense lower body strength, helping its kicking and jumping abilities. Blaziken has three fingers on each hand, resembling that of a normal chicken’s feet, with what appears to be gray-colored wristband-like markings on its wrists. Blaziken has spur-like claws on the underside of its upper leg, and, although rarely seen due to the shaggy feathers on the bottom of its legs, three clawed toes.
Gender differences
A female has shorter "hair" than a male. The V-shape on a female's "mask" is also smaller.
Special abilities
It can leap over a skyscraper with a single jump. It can make flames spout from its wrists and ankles, cloaking its feet or fists. The stronger the foe it faces, the more intensely its flames burn. It may also launch a fiery kick at the opponent.
Behavior
It learns martial arts that use punches and kicks. Every several years, its old feathers burn off, and new, supple feathers grow back in their place.

In the anime
Blaziken was first seen in Pop Goes The Sneasel. Harrison used it to defeat the Sneasel that was blocking access to the flame of Ho-Oh. Harrison later used Blaziken in a climatic battle with Ash's Charizard.
Blaziken was also seen in Destiny Deoxys under the ownership of Rafe.
In Once More with Reeling, May's Combusken evolved into a Blaziken. She brought it with her to Johto, and it was one of the Pokémon she used when she returned in A Full Course Tag Battle!.

Trivia
- Blaziken is the lightest final form of a starter Pokémon, weighing 114.6 pounds (52.0 kilograms).
- Blaziken is the third Generation III Pokémon to appear in the anime (the first was Kecleon; the second, Wynaut) and one of the very few Generation III Pokémon to appear before the first episode of Advance Generation. It is also the only starter Pokémon to appear in the anime before its generation saga began, unless one counts Munchlax, a "starter" in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness.
- Blaziken has the highest base Attack of all final evolution starter Pokémon, but it also has the lowest Speed of the fully evolved Template:Type2 starters.
- Blaziken has the lowest base stat total of all the fully evolved Template:Type2 starters.
- Blaziken can learn Brave Bird despite not being of the Template:Type2, due to being based on a chicken.
- Despite being based on a bird, because of its type, Blaziken is weak against Flying moves. It shares this trait with its pre-evolved form Combusken.
- Blaziken is the only final form of a Hoenn Starter Pokémon that wasn't shown in the Ever Grande Conference. A Swampert was used by Morrison while a Sceptile was used by Tyson.
- Blaziken, like its pre-evolution, Combusken, has no flame anywhere on its body unlike all other Template:Type2 starters.
- It is the only Pokémon to learn Blaze Kick by leveling up AND get STAB from the move. The only other Pokémon to learn it is Hitmonlee, a pure Template:Type2.
Origin
Blaziken is probably based on a cockfighting chicken. It also bears resemblance to Horus, an Ancient Egyptian deity with a hawk's head. Blaziken may also be based on the basan, a fire-breathing chicken.
Name origin
Blaziken's name is a combination of blaze and chicken.
Bashamo is likely a combination of burst or burn and 軍鶏 shamo, a breed of Japanese chicken once raised for fighting.
