Ash's Gible (Japanese: サトシのフカマル Satoshi's Fukamaru) is the fifth Pokémon caught by Ash in the Sinnoh region.
History
Ash first met Gible in A Meteoric Rise to Excellence!. Wilma explained that Gible was trying his best to learn the move Draco Meteor. But for some reason, the move always failed; instead of exploding in the sky, it always fell to the ground. Ash wanted to help the wild Gible learn Draco Meteor and achieve his dreams. It successfully used the move against Team Rocket, but failed again in its next attempt. By the end of the episode, Gible decided to start following Ash. Currently, Gible, with Ash's help, is still trying to master using the move. Most of the time, the move fails and, in a recurring gag, accidentally hits Piplup, although it has been used on one occasion to find Piplup once the latter went missing.
In DP157, Ash met with Gible again. Barry also was interested in catching him. However, Gible decided to let Ash capture him after he saw what Ash would do to protect him. After that, Barry demanded a battle with Ash and his new Gible and was able to defeat it with Empoleon.
Like Torterra during its time as a Turtwig, Gible seems to enjoy latching onto Ash's head as well as other peoples' heads (at first, like Turtwig, it used to chomp onto Ash's and other people's heads but after a little while it seemed to just latch onto people's heads without actually hurting them). Later on, it showed its habit also included rocks and tree trunks, among other objects. Gible also has the ability to devour almost any kind of metals, seen when Gible devoured two of Team Rocket's giant robots, and half of a city park. Despite appearing to be quite gutsy, it is not very bright and is slow to understand simple requests or orders; on one occasion, it chewed away a section of rock despite it falling into a creek as a result, and still chewed at the rock underwater not seeming to realize it could drown and had to be saved by Buizel.

Trivia
- Gible is the very first Template:Type2 Pokémon that Ash (or any main character) has owned. It is also Ash's first Pokémon that can evolve into a pseudo-legendary Pokémon (if his unofficial Larvitar isn't counted).
- Gible is the third Pokémon to eat a Poké Ball. The first two were Nero and May's Munchlax.
- Gible is the second Pokémon of Ash's to destroy a friend's bike. The first was his Pikachu, which destroyed Misty's, May's, and Dawn's bikes, but unlike Pikachu, who fried the bikes by accident, Gible ate Barry's bike on purpose.
- Gible is the third (or 32nd, if one counts all 30 of Ash's Tauros) of Ash's Pokémon to have its gender confirmed before being obtained by Ash, due to the notch on its fin. The first two were Tauros and Buizel.
- Coincidentally, all three of them are male.
- Gible is the second Pokémon of Ash's to know an HM move, the first being Ash's Grotle with Rock Climb.
- Coincidentally, both attacks start with "Rock" in their name.
- Gible is Ash's second Ground-type Pokémon with a second type to its species. The first was Ash's Gliscor. Gible also replaces Gliscor in the sixth slot of Ash's party. Also, they both have a double weakness to the Ice-type.
- Gible can be seen as a parallel to Ash's Snorunt. Both were caught late in Ash's travels of the region they were caught in. Additionally, both Snorunt and Gible had difficulty mastering one of their moves (Ice Beam and Draco Meteor, respectively).
- Gible is Ash's second pokemon in Sinnoh who has had trouble mastering a move they could learn upon experience, the other being Gligar. Gible has had trouble mastering Template:Draco Meteor, while Gligar had trouble mastering Template:X-Scissor. Coincidentally, Gible and Gligar are both part ground type.
