Weedle (Japanese: ビードル Beedle) is a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon.

Habitat

Weedle can be found in forests and misty wooded areas.

Diet

Weedle primarily eat leaves. They appear to prefer some leaves over others, and they can distinguish between them by smelling them with their big red proboscis, or nose.

Weedle appeared a few times while Ash was in the Viridian Forest, such as when a number of them ate Team Rocket's cardboard tank.

In the manga

Blue caught a Weedle to try to use to trick people into trading better Pokémon for it at the Pokémon League tournament in Pokémon Special.

Shuu befriended and caught a Weedle in Pokémon Getto Da Ze!.

Origin

Weedle resembles a Wiggler.

Name origin

Weedle's name appears to be a misspelling of weevil, but this is not likely, considering the difference between the two. Its name is more likely a combination of worm and needle, which refers to the stingers on its body. Beedle is similar, but refers to bees instead.
