Trivia
- Vespiquen is the only non-Template:Type2 Pokémon that can learn Toxic by leveling up.
- Vespiquen has three signature moves, the highest number out of all Pokémon, equaled only by Hitmonlee*, the Porygon family, and the Cubone family*.
- Vespiquen is the only Template:Type2 Pokémon that has Pressure as its ability.
- Vespiquen is the slowest fully-evolved Template:Type2 Pokémon.
- Vespiquen's Speed stat is lower than that of its pre-evolution.
- Vespiquen is the only Pokémon introduced in Generation IV whose name starts with the letter "V".
- Vespiquen's name, despite being based on the word "queen", only has one "e" in its second half, even though another "e" could have fit in perfectly without exceeding the 10-letter Pokémon name limit. The reasons for the single "e" are unknown.
Origin
Vespiquen is based on queen bees and beehives, along with a combination of real queens.
Name origin
Its name is derived from the words vespa, both a genus name and Latin for wasp, and queen. The name Beequeen is derived from the word bee and queen, referring to the fact that only female bees can become the leader of a colony of bees.
