Berry locations
I've made a template for the berry locations. Rex says he likes it, what do you think of it? Also, do you mind if I borrow a little bit of coding and design from your archive template? Werdnae (talk) 00:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I like it, but the roundy needs to be better compacted... TTEchidna 01:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Better compacted? You mean by using
{{roundyside}}
to make the coding smaller, or by making the corner radius bigger? Werdnae (talk) 02:21, 4 June 2010 (UTC)- By collapsing the borders between the roundy parts, where they combine to be one round thing. TTEchidna 02:22, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- This better? The border collapse doesn't work with the show/hide, so it doesn't hide anymore. I'm hoping that by trimming the parameters to just what are needed I can fix the display glitches for the ones with just one entry, and I still need to un-small the headers, but other than that it's pretty much done. - Eh... A little unneeded... really, it's like putting Bill on Eevee's line. TTEchidna 02:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Although Bill doesn't transform into Eevee... nor is he the only way to get one other than a trade. You are the boss though.--MisterE13 02:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- In that case, Rainbow Wing into Ho-Oh, or something like that. We don't need to involve the fossils. TTEchidna 03:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- MisterE13, difference between evolving and "ressurecting" is that they actually clone the Pokémon from fossil, they don't revive fossil itself. It's just like getting Pokémon in exchange for given item... --TakeruDavis[1] 17:29, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

RegionInfobox template
Hey TTE, sorry to bug you, but what do you think of this? I really think that the current style is waaaaaay out of date. Takharii ~ Talk! 08:38, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Why the white in the label fields? Looks good, though. TTEchidna 08:41, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Glad you like it. I'll change it to (region) color light, and see how that looks. Thanks! Takharii ~ Talk! 08:43, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Just don't change the fields the parameters go in. Use part of this, too... TTEchidna 08:47, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Not quite sure what you mean by using this, feel free to fiddle around with mine if you wish. Also, how do I make it so we can say "yes" or "no" to the sections from "villians" down? Takharii ~ Talk! 10:22, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Where'd it go?! TTEchidna 22:10, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

The background color for this should be white, right? If so, then what is interfering here that prevents it from being white? ポケモンあいこうか 13:01, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Am I insane?
You might think I'm crazy, but just a minute ago, almost three months after HGSS, I encountered a 503. Yes, a 503. I thought, "Am I crazy?" HGSS load is long gone. COuld this be a sign of Gen V load? TyphlosionBlaze 03:34, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

- Beats me. Looks pretty good; have you tested it? TTEchidna 06:12, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I have tested it, but I'm not really sure how to use that yes/no thing thats hides some sections For example, Almia it doesn't need sections from "Villanous Teams" down, but Kanto needs every section. Anyone who can fix that is free to do so. Takharii ~ Talk! 07:03, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- That'd be some pretty complex code. {{#if:}}s and stuff. TTEchidna 07:18, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Anatomy Vs. Physiology
I've been reading the Pokemon's physiology but I found it somewhat odd, I'm a medical student and I suggest that the Physiology term should be change in Anatomy because of the fact that when we define physiology, it means more on the function of the body while in anatomy, more on defining or explaining each part of the body...well try to define those.. just a suggestion but more on facts.ahmm another if we will use physiology it should be partnered with anatomy, meaning... we should put Anatomy and Physiology but if we will put that we need to add more data for all Pokemon, .thanks..--GASPERshut... 13:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- I know. I know. I know. I know I know. I've gotten this a bajillion times. Next project after the roundycorners are all fixed is to redo every Pokémon page. TTEchidna 03:34, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
I lost my talk page comment
When i posted in the talk page for 44hy regarding trivia, and checked back weeks later, it was gone! When i looked in the history awhile later thinking someone had removed it, it wasn't there! Here is the link: [[1]]. It isn't a big deal, since the trivia was fixed anyway, but it is a very big deal if it was more than just a one-time anomaly. Flyingtypefan 06:23, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe you accidentally posted it, tried to save, it looked like it went through, but actually didn't. I dunno. I can't think of where it would have gone. TTEchidna 06:48, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
HEY BOSS, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW
WE'VE BEEN MISUSING THE WORD "PHYSIOLOGY" IN THE POKEMON PAGES. WE SHOULD PROBABLY CHANGE THAT.

- And I've tried Ditto breeding in GSC. Doesn't work. Official game guides have been known to contain some failings, such as the "?" legendary Pokémon in Mt. Silver. TTEchidna 09:18, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Rival parties
Should we use the official BP colours (like the infoboxes) in the rival party boxes as well? Also, could we please move Elder to Li, fitting with the other one-off Trainer classes? - unsigned comment from MisterE13 (talk • contribs)

Silver
2 questions.
- 1. Why is Silver protected?
- 2. Why do most of the templates in the Trivia section and beyond act like links instead of templates? Blake Talk·Edits 22:48, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Both, something broke. It overran the template include size. We're gonna resolve it ASAP. TTEchidna 22:57, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Mistake
Ok my mistake on whatever it is I did but I have my reasons. 1: My computer keys were jamed so I could rarely put what I wanted on the article correctly. 2: Something was wrong with my computer because for some reason when I write a lot of things it freezes but I could still write so I just continue to write so I'm sorry for whatever it is I did as I was saying before that's my bad sorry, but everything's fixed so there shouldn't be anymore problems.--Crimsontrainer15 03:27, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Crimsontrainer15

BulbaBot
Hey, over at PokéWiki we have got a bot named de:User:WikiBot, which I assume is an instance of User:BulbaBot. There is an issue with that bot, because when adding interwiki links, he sometimes ends up messing up the order of them, for example, see here and here. The order they are supposed to be in is en, es, fr, ja, pl, pt. On BulbaBot's page it says to contact Zhen Lin, but their talk page is protected and tells not to contact them -.- So, uhm, any help on this matter would be much appreciated.--Afrael talk 08:36, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think Zhen runs WikiBot... I'll ask Zhen next time I see him. TTEchidna 08:41, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
About the "Pokémon battle" article
Any particular reason you got rid of the line about how battles are less commonly known as "Pokémon fights"? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 22:40, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Any particular reason you feel the need to question everyone's edits like that? --Darkeiya talk to me! 00:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Not everyone's edits. Just the ones that to me don't make sense. And battles are occasionally referred to as Pokémon fights, hence my confusion as to the edit in question. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 00:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- I would say very rarely, don't feel any need for this to be mentioned. To me it does make sence. --TakeruDavis[1] 00:58, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

- In RBYFRLG, one of the Pokémaniacs in Rock Tunnel says before battling you, "POKEMON fight! Ready, go!".
- In RBY, in Viridian City's school, the kid's notebook's third page says "POKEMON trainers seek others to engage in POKEMON fights.".
- In RBY, on Route 14, a Biker says "POKEMON fight? Cool! Rumble!" before he battles you.
- Not to mention all the usages of the word "fight", most of which are replaced with "battle" in FR/LG. Like Agatha saying "He's wrong! POKEMON are for fighting!".
- Heck, here's a link to R/B/Y's game script! See for yourself! As for the anime, I'll have to check. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 01:42, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

How do I shot web
how do i make a sectionarceusLX leveled up! 01:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Wikicode. Basics. Anywhere between one and six equals signs (=) in a row, followed by the section title, followed by an equal number of equals signs.
See
Fouuuur
Five
Six
More than six won't register properly. See below:
=See? Nope.=
Don't use a single equals; it makes it look terrible. For sections that are subsections, use one more equals sign. And please don't be a doop. TTEchidna 01:42, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

"AR glitches don't count"
By AR, I assume you mean action replay, correct? felinoel 01:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. No Action Replay. Those are glitches caused by messing with the game and making it do things it can't normally do on purpose. TTEchidna 02:28, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ah ok that was what I thought, seeing as how I don't own one I will just undo your edit. felinoel 02:35, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Why does this wiki use speculation?
Most wiki do not care for speculation on their pages though? felinoel 02:14, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Starter Pokémon. Where else would they fall in the Pokédex? They have established a pattern. They always put the starters first. It'd be like saying it's speculation that you can buy Poké Balls. Speculation that Mario jumps in the next Mario game. Speculation that Link will have a sword in the next Zelda game. It's Pokémon, not politics. TTEchidna 02:30, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- They do indeed always put the starter pokemon first, but assuming that they will continue to do so is speculation, those three pokemon should be grouped with the other not-yet-numbered pokemon because there is no actual place they have been given their numbers. felinoel 02:37, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Fyi Feli, if you haven't checked the official black & white site then I must tell you that they have already confirmed that Pokabu is on #004 on IssuDex which means they are following the same old pattern. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 02:50, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- The difference, either way, is that there's speculation (a new type, a certain number of new Pokémon, what Ash is gonna catch next week, etc.) and "speculation" (starters at 001-009, legendary status of version mascots, Ash's Pikachu's appearance in next week's episode). The first is just wild hopes. The second is pretty much concrete. TTEchidna 03:10, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- There is no difference, speculation is speculation, and as for that link... I can't read Japanese... felinoel 05:14, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- You don't have to read Japanese to see "#004" on page 2 :P --ZestyCactus 05:19, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I see no numbers on the second page, just the three starters? felinoel 05:32, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- ...you missed Pokabu's Pokédex entry? TTEchidna 05:41, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- (got conflicted) here's just the picture, then --ZestyCactus 05:43, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, that is what you meant by second page, I went all the way to the first page and then went to the next page, I didn't think you meant to start where the link started, calling that the first page. felinoel 06:14, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, so only the pig's number is confirmed, as for the other two, it is still speculation. felinoel 06:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, come on. You know that everything is confirmed and no chance of speculation then why are you pulling useless strings? ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 06:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just because I indeed know what number these pokemon will be on the pokedex, does not mean that my knowledge is not speculation and thus not wiki material. felinoel 06:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

(Resetting indent.) The way we are taking it is not so much that it's confirming Pokabu's number as it's confirming the pattern of the starter numbers, giving us the other two as well. Werdnae (talk) 06:41, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- The least that could be done is by putting an asterisk next to the number and below putting that it is following the pattern or is speculation or something along those lines. felinoel 06:46, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- A worthless edit to make, they are practically guaranteed those numbers. TTEchidna 08:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- It may be worthless, but that is how wikis work, if something posted on a wiki is speculation, the least that can be done is a notice of it felinoel 09:03, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- All I can say, felinoel, is get over it. And if you didn't notice, the indent was reset. Go with the flow man.--Pokélova! 09:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I come to Wikipedia, and other sites based off of it, for facts, when leniency is allowed, that just paves the way for more leniency. Also, I like how it looks with one reset indent and one continued indent, you can't say it doesn't look more interesting. felinoel 09:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm from Wikipedia. Fear me. Or something. As Echy said, "there's [baseless] speculation [...] and there's [justified] speculation". We have justification for the numbering (the Pokabu screen) so it stands.
- P.S. Your indents are damned hard to read. —darklordtrom 09:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- and as felinoel responded, "Speculation is speculation." How is a tiny asterisk next to a number so bad? felinoel 10:04, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Are we suddenly talking about an entirely different series? It's still Pokémon. There's going to be a National Dex listing, or you wouldn't be able to trade the shiny legendary beasts or Celebi forward. People know that the games aren't out yet and that any information on them is tentative. Hell, remember the launch of Gold and Silver? They had most of the game programmed, the starting town was announced as Silent Hills, not New Bark. Would you thus say that it's only speculation that the name of one of the cities you can visit is Hiun? How about all the Pokémon in the lost GS beta, like the little seal thing? None of them get articles, should we delete all the articles on the Pokémon we have from Gen V?
- We're not Wikipedia. We have our own policies. Anime episode announced, we'll assume that it's the episode after the last one announced, unless they say otherwise. If it ends up not being the case, we'll change it. Unlike Wikipedia, we aren't exactly reporting on real events and real people, for the most part, but a fictional world. Wikipedia's stuff works there, but not here. Tah dah. TTEchidna 20:44, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I never said real events or people or things are what is being archived here, but like any other wikia, this Wiki follows the same principles Wikipedia does, and ever since that one guy messed with that article and caused that lawsuit as well as people starting to doubt the authenticity of wikis, the main focus of Wikipedia and its wikias are to only archive what is not speculation. felinoel 03:16, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Wrong answer, McFly. We're not part of Wikia. Never have been. Never will be. We're proudly part of NIWA, an independent alliance of wikis not stuck on Wikia's servers, having founded the organization after repeated attempts to be bought out by Wikia. Like I said. We are not Wikipedia. We use MediaWiki, a wiki program. But that does not make us a subsidiary of them. TTEchidna 03:29, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- I was in the middle of a thought, so I will still say it. Saying "Wikia" is not the same as saying "wiki". All of wikia is owned by wikipedia, if I remember correctly. Do you see wikia in the url of this site? No! We have different standards, styles, and conventions. Saying "like any other wikia" seriously lowers the credibility of your statements. - Which brings us back on topic to the original point of this discussion, of which it is named, "Why does this wiki use speculation?" felinoel 03:40, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- We are not using speculation. Pokabu has been confirmed as Isshu Dex #004, which confirms that the starter numbering will be the same as in previous generations. If it's stated otherwise later, we will change it. --ZestyCactus 03:48, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- You should probably just stop arguing. It's quite embarrassing to make this big a deal over nothing. You're digging yourself into a deep hole. Find something more important to do.

- There's a difference between speculation and just plain obvious. Speculation would be saying that Ash will capture a Mamepato when he gets to Isshu. It's far more unlikely that they would have different dex numbers. It's been the same thing for 14 years. Oh and compared to other wikis, we use far less speculation. Wikipedia and Wikia uses more speculation than we do. --ケンジのガール 04:08, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

An idea for a new project
I was told to ask a staff member if i wanted to start a project, so...
How about "project sidegames"? It could aim to write comprehensive articles on the side games/spin-offs/minigames of the Pokemon series. I know we already have "project games", but I've seen subprojects before, and maybe it could be one of those. Is it a good idea? Flyingtypefan 00:17, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'd say it's a good idea. The side games do tend to be ignored under project games. TTEchidna 00:20, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Issue with edits
Whenver I make an edit on Bulbapedia, such as letting everyone know a Jirachi is being distributed in North America right now (not counting the one about how much I hate the anime; I understand what I did wrong), I check back later and it's no longer there. Can you please explain to me why this is? --TheAnimeSucks 00:56, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- It must have been reverted. CuboneKing 00:57, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- But why?--TheAnimeSucks 01:00, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I took a look at your edit and you can't just have everything in all-caps like that. This is an encyclopedia, and things must be written properly and according to Bulbapedia's style. If you're still having trouble, then read some of the help pages. —♥ Jello 01:03, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I understand that one now, but I also made an edit on Turtwig's Trivia section about how both it and Bulbasaur are number 001 in their regional Pokédex, and how their evolution families have similar traits, but that one got deleted too. --TheAnimeSucks 01:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

- We have to draw a line somewhere, or else we can (and will) get trivia sections that are literally pages and pages long. And all grass-type starters are number 001 in their regional Pokedex - thus, not notable. 梅子❀✿ 01:23, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Pointout in an article...
Hello there. I've tried to edit this article because I've noticed that there was an error on the Japanese title for EP006, but it's still protected. When I hover over the word "Pippi", the text reveals "Cleffa". It should be revealed as "Clefairy", since "Cleffa" didn't appear prior to Generation II. Just wanted to point this out.

- I can't really think of anything... I notice that the boxes stretch as the browser is stretched (I normally don't keep my browser at full screen), but at a width of about 1024 pixels, the text between the main picture and the movebox seems somewhat squished. But I really can't think of anything that can be done about that. Sorry I'm being so unhelpful. Maybe some screenshots would help so you can see the page how I see it?--PhantomJunkie 07:55, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- I meant asking people with, you know... 4:3 screens. Which are at the crap-old 640×480 res. Because yes, we still have to cater to them... Though most everything looks bad on them these days. TTEchidna 07:58, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if it helps, I just changed my screen size to 800x600, and now the text is below the movebox, vertically stretching the template as a whole. The picture on the left is situated at the bottom of the template leaving a big block of solid color above it. Here's a pic of Dusknoir's template My computer can't get down to 640x480, though.--PhantomJunkie 08:06, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Before this goes on... can we discuss this? I don't really care for this listing. The lack of uniformity is bothering me. -Sketch 19:46, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Why???
One question. Why do you keep deleting my articles. I try to make them as good as I can. From now on would you not delete my articles. - unsigned comment from Cool469 (talk • contribs)
- If they were good and relevant and followed style, then I wouldn't delete them. Zoroark did not follow the style of our articles at all (take a look at Celebi or something to see what to do). The Pokémon Transfer Machine didn't have the é that is absolutely required, was terribly written stylistically (seriously, you broke nearly every rule with it, so I'm not gonna go over every one you did here). Pokéchange is super obviously designed by you, considering Crash469 and Cool469 end with the same three numbers (think we're that dumb that we wouldn't notice?), it's basically a "look at what I'm 'developing' mommy!" thing, written by a guy who doesn't seem to even know how the hell a Pokémon is broken down in the save file. Seriously. A key for the Lock Capsule. Oy. Why not hack in some new tires for the truck while you're at it? As for Mew Kicker... we don't care about little games that you put someone's face into that you decided to put Mew into. And you fail at linking properly. My god. Read how pages are coded. See how we do things. You've been here damn near a year. I had our style down in a week. GET WITH THE PROGRAM SIR. TTEchidna 09:15, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

A polite message advising to read the Manual of Style would be suffice. T a r o m o n 14:00, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry
Sorry, also can I become a sysop soon? Slipknot Darkrai 21:42, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeahhhhhh no. This isn't an "ask and you shall be rewarded" deal. You've been here for three months, first off. Minimum cutoff is six to get JA. Second of all, advertising for another Pokémon wiki on Bulbapedia is kind of a good way to get us pissed off at you. There doesn't really need to be another wiki. Yeah, competition is good, but... TPE and this... yourwiki thing. Yeah. Not the best of competitions. Now if Pokébeach or Serebii started a wiki that was of about-equal quality to Bulbapedia, and grew like madness to our level, in addition to competing with us stylistically? Yeah. They would be a problem. But... no. No. Tiny wikis are little more than an annoyance (especially if they take our stuff). Bulbapedia's contributors have worked hard over the course of five years to make this wiki what it is. A rainbow of fun! TTEchidna 21:47, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for advertising. I thought that was the rules on the forums exactly. Sorry, no honestly I am. So can I become a sysop soon since I can't now? Slipknot Darkrai 21:49, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Besides a contributor on TPE copypasted images. Get him. He uploaded an image called Spr_3e_336.gif. I can't because I am banned there. Slipknot Darkrai 21:53, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Asking is pretty much guaranteed to get you an answer of "no, you can never ever be one". We occasionally have hiring drives, where we take applicants from interested editors... but that's not now. And even then, we'd take a look at your contribs which are... minimal right now. They're grammatically just fine, and you're on your way to being maybe one day possibly considered. But... yeah. Asking earns you an instant no and probably will dock you points in an eventual bid.
- And TPE's known for that. Their users are 99% morons, 1% assholes. And they don't get it. Yeah, sure, the sprites are technically fair use since they're not ours, but a lot of our users went through a lot of crap to make the nice animated ones. So we will tell them to stop jacking our shit. TTEchidna 22:39, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Some ideas

About Iris' Kibago
Is it really necessary to put the BW001 part?
for all we know they could do a reverse of what happened last season and make them appear in episode 2?
(Ataro 23:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC))
- Then we'll change it if that's the case. Far as we know, it'll appear with her in BW001. Especially since Ash wasn't even seen in those previews. Iris is new. She'll be introduced first. TTEchidna 00:11, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Gen.I EV template - problem...
The EV count on this template should be 63504 (252 squared), should it not? It was on the talk page for the template, like, a year ago, but with the wrong number (64512). EV's do go from 0 to 65535 in the first two gens, so with 252 EV's, you're actually only going up 3 points... XD. Ztobor 01:55, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know. Gen I is so long ago. Ask one of the local glitch nuts. They know Gen I. TTEchidna 03:08, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Either way, 252 is definitely wrong for the first two gens. Ztobor 11:35, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- What even uses that template, anyway? TTEchidna 18:50, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Glitch Pokémon, mostly. ~ solaris 18:52, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Should be changed either way, though. Especially glitch Pokémon, as their data is heavily tied toward what the computer interprets the data as. Ztobor 02:46, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well if I knew what the maximum per stat was... TTEchidna 02:59, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- You mean the maximum EV? It's 65535, but the maximum stat is reached at 63504. The calculation doesn't need to change, just that one number. Ztobor 01:36, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Specifically, this line: "The maximum stat is calculated with 252 EV's and and IV of 15." The 252 there is what's wrong. Ztobor 01:39, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

- Yep. The equations don't need to be changed, as the Gen.3 variables are done the same way as they are in Gens. 1 and 2. (I was going to comment on how you just took the max IV to be 31 again, but you accounted for that, so that's okay.) Ztobor 04:21, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Template:Item
Since you're the master template hacker, I'm wondering if it's possible if you could add on two description fields to indicate that an item's description comes only from Pokémon Colosseum and that an item's description comes only from Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. As I'd initially requested here before some certain ugliness at the start of June, the template still needs parameters for descriptions for each of those games separately (a "desccolo" and a "descxd" if you will); this is primarily for use on the games' key item pages. I listed an amendement to the request yesterday to add to it a parameter for descriptions that apply to both games ("desccoloxd") for use on Cologne, but Werdnae added only "desccoloxd" in the most recent edit--"desccolo" and "descxd" was not added. If it's not too much trouble, could "desccolo" and "descxd" be added?
Also, concerning Cologne, I've recently made the template conversion on that page (thanks to Werdnae's addition), but had to list the wrong item storage location due to the fact that the template doesn't support a Cologne Case listing (which should be similar to an Apricorn Box listing without an icon). Is a Cologne Case parameter an easy add? Thanks. --Shiningpikablu252 16:02, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Oops, sorry. Jello's now added those two description parameters. And I've added the Cologne case thing. Since the bag parameter also sets the colours, I've added a new parameter, cologne. If it is present, then it will display the cologne case. Otherwise it has no effect. So you can use the bag parameter to set the colour if you want. Werdnae (talk) 21:49, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- You know... like the Apricorns, I'd've preferred if you had made it do its own colors... TTEchidna 05:46, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Prototype cologne colors at your service. Only natural that the prototypes cut their cloth from the color used for shadow--after all, cologne's main purpose is to help purify shadow Pokémon! Anyone want to improve the colors, be my guest. --Shiningpikablu252 04:04, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Using the accented é in image filenames
Is it really necessary? It's messing up IE's save function, making IE save the image as a normal file instead of a JPEG, PNG or whatever the original extension was unless you MANUALLY type the extension. I don't know if it screws up Firefox's save function, but it's annoying. TyphlosionBlaze 22:19, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's not neccessary in image filenames but for text and page names, it is required. —♥ Jellotalk 22:24, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- No, it's not necessary to use in image filenames. In fact, it's preferable that you don't use it, since putting extraneous characters and symbols in filenames causes unwanted strain on the servers. --P o L i 23:12, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Move "Kanto Route 1" to "Route 1 (Kanto)"
I suggest moving all the Kanto routes from "Kanto Route #" to "Route # (Kanto)" because the name of the route itself does not have "Kanto" in it. After all, the three Victory Roads are named the same way. Blueapple128 00:45, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- No. Because all three Safari Zones are X Safari Zone. I want people to link using
{{rt}}

,{{ho}}
,{{si}}
, and{{is}}
. TTEchidna 00:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)- I have to say that "Route 1 (Kanto)" makes a whole lot more sense. Just because the safari zones are named that way doesn't mean the routes should be. Naming schemes can change. Blake Talk·Edits 01:14, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Renaming the Routes
Just an opinion of mine, isn't it a bit of rush to rename the routes of Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. Maybe spoiler, but renaming it now, isn't a bit rush? we are not comfirmed that future games will be continuing on from Isshu. Wat's ur opinion? --Ruixiang95 07:40, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- In one word: consistency. Yes, maybe Johto Route 40 will remain the only one, but we're still naming it Johto Route 40. For consistency. --electAbuzzzz 08:53, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- If we renamed only Kanto routes, and Isshu went to Route 29, we would have to rename all Johto routes. Hoenn and Sinnoh follow because their routes follow the same numbering system as Kanto and Johto, but with a large numberskip between (maybe one day we'll see Route 49 through Route 100, and Route 135 through Route 200). We dunno if future routes will continue from Isshu's number system, or if they won't, but what we can be sure of is that we're prepared if they do, just like we were prepared if Ash got a Gligar by having it be at Gligar (Pokémon) like the rest. TTEchidna 09:10, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is how I would do it: keep all the Route articles with their original name except the ones there are more than one of. Routes which are duplicated, eg Route 1, could be called Route 1 (Kanto) and Route 1 (Isshu). Renaming all of the routes doesn't really seem necessary, especially Hoenn and Sinnoh's routes; it's very unlikely there will be another Route 101 or Route 201 in the forseeable future.

TTEchidna 09:10, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- As for the Safari Zone business, perhaps the Safari Zone articles should be moved (eg move Kanto Safari Zone to Safari Zone (Kanto)). As Blueapple128 said, these locations don't actually contain the region in their name, they are simply multiple locations which share the same name. This naming system is already implemented on the Victory Road articles, and to me seems like a much more simple and "standardized" system. If that makes any sense. Doesn't the Manual of Style have an official policy on article titles? T a r o m o n 17:23, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- That's how Wikipedia does it. They're stupid. Remember how Ash got a Gligar after seven years of it being a useless and forgotten Johto Pokémon? If we didn't do our all-or-nothing style of disambiguations, we wouldn't have been ready for Ash's Gligar.
- And as for routes: say tomorrow the US government commissioned Route 527 as an auxiliary of Route 27. Would Wikipedia create the page at Route 527, or would they create the page at US Route 527? There are no other routes numbered 527 in the world as far as I can see in their categories, and the official designation of the route is "Route 527". So why would they name it U.S. Route 527? CONSISTENCY. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh's routes are incredibly obviously one system, and the four regions are part of one country (hence, you know National Dex).
- For the Safari Zones, they could be imagined as an analog of zoos. Many cities and states have parks like this named after them, because at one time they were the only park in the area. Hell, most other establishments do this. Look at any of the Boards of Trade on Wikipedia. In the local area, they're just referred to as "the Board of Trade". But in the greater world, to distinguish them from others, they're called the PLACE Board of Trade. Therefore, Safari Zones. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn.
- And Victory Road's different. It's a landmark like the Pokémon Mansion is, so it gets a disambiguation parenthetical. TTEchidna 20:46, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- But the Safari Zones are surely landmarks too, aren't they? T a r o m o n 10:36, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

- I realize. However, keep this in mind. Many cities have zoos, like San Diego and Philadelphia. They're named for the city. Are they to be called Zoo (San Diego) or Zoo (Philadelphia)? Zoos are landmarks... TTEchidna 21:00, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- No, but their name isn't Zoo. The routes are named "Route 1". The zoos are named "San Diego Zoo". Changing the name to "Kanto Route 1" doesn't seem right, because it is changing the name. The parentheses are to further disimbag the article when the real name is taken. I respect your decision, but your reasoning fails. Blake Talk·Edits 21:42, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Refer to the earlier example with the many state routes in the US and other countries that have large subdivisions in their federation. Illinois Route 1. Kentucky Route 1. Even internationally, there are routes called 1 that are named for their country. Plus, it flows better. People get pissy with parentheses. TTEchidna 00:18, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Templates are hard
At least... they are for me. This is my more-or-less final design for the prevo moves table, but I'm having some problems figuring out certain aspects of the required templates. Specifically I'd like to have a template that links the sprites to the Pokemon's learnset of the same generation. So if it's a Gen III table, the image will take you to the relevant prevo's Gen III learnset. This way, the Gen IV tables will still work when they're moved to their own pages come Gen V - we'll just have to alter the template. Anyway, I can't quite figure this one out. I know you probably have a lot of other stuff to do here, but if you could help me out here then I can start assembling and testing the tables themselves. Thanks. Bikini Miltank 17:33, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I was looking, and it seems you don't have all the parameters in; for example, how would I switch from Generation IV to another generation? I'll code it later if no one else has by then.--immewnitythemew 18:24, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- You know that's not the final template, right? It's just a design, the final thing will need at least three templates. I think that to make it link to a specific generation's learnest you'd probably either have to have a parameter for the generation in each entry, or have a separate template for each generation. Either way, just change the link location to Pokémon (Pokémon)/Generation X Learnset for each generation, and it'll link to the right page. Werdnae (talk) 21:00, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Pokemon Global Link and Bulbapedia
We don't even have an article on Pokémon Global Link yet, that's really a shame. But it's not my point. From the footage of the Pokémon Global Link website shown in pre-release Black/White materials, we've seen that the page is going to include lots of new pictures and artworks - like its own Pokemon pictures (which probably fall under our definition of "sprites"), different pictures of Items and Berry trees (which could replace those tiny in-game overworld sprites in the respective Berry articles) or room decorations. I think that those pictures/artworks would prove very useful for Bulbapedia and we might include them in our articles. This will probably include some kind of an action to rip 'em all, that means finding the directory of the site which contains all these pictures. Of course, there's still much time. But I'd like to see what the main admin thinks about the matter. I think that the PGL site may prove an important source of data for our Wiki. --Maxim 18:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
