Prologue: Masara Town, is the prologue of the Pokémon Zensho manga.
Synopsis
Satoshi starts his Pokémon Journey and gets his first starter Pokémon.
Chapter guide
Satoshi is searching around for his first Pokémon. While searching, he trips and falls and when he looks up he sees a flock of Pidgey. They're just about to attack him when a flame blazes through the air and hurts one of the Pidgey. The others run away to avoid being burned. It's Professor Oak and a Charmander, was who saved Satoshi from the flock.
Prof. Oak takes Satoshi to his lab, where his anxious grandson Shigeru waits. Shigeru is surprised to see Satoshi with Prof. Oak for he is Satoshi's rival. Prof. Oak shows Satoshi three Poké Balls, and tells him to choose one of three starter Pokémon: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmander. Satoshi chooses Charmander because it's the same Charmander that had saved him earlier, while Shigeru chooses Squirtle, and Prof. Oak keeps the Bulbasaur.
Shigeru decides to challenge Satoshi, and Satoshi accepts. Charmander attacks, but it's ineffective against Shigeru's Squirtle. Squirtle shoots water out of its mouth while Charmander dodges. Then Satoshi orders Charmander to headbutt which instantly wins the battle. While Satoshi cheers his first victory, Prof. Oak gives Shigeru and Satoshi a Pokédex, and explains to them what the Pokédex does.
