Lati@s is a popular fan-created term that collectively refers to the legendary Eon Pokémon Latias and Latios, as the sign "@" looks like an a inside an o.
While the term has not been used in any of the five games in which the duo can be caught (Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, and SoulSilver), it is commonly used on forums and other places where fans gather to discuss the franchise when they wish to refer to both Eon Pokémon or, more commonly, a single, nonspecific member of the duo.
Latias
|
- Main article: Latias (Pokémon)
Latias, the female Eon Pokémon, can be found without a special event item in Sapphire, Emerald (depending on the player's choice), and HeartGold.
Latias's stats lean towards defense. This is mirroring Latios, whose stats are on the offensive side. Latias can weaken its male counterpart with its signature move, Mist Ball. Half of the time, the move shall weaken the foe's Special Attack.
In the case of Ruby, or in a case where Latios is chosen to roam Hoenn in Emerald, an Eon Ticket will take the player to Southern Island for an encounter, like Latios. With an Enigma Stone in SoulSiver, Latias can be found and captured in Pewter City.
Latios
|
- Main article: Latios (Pokémon)
Latios is the male member of the duo, found without a special event item in Ruby, Emerald (depending on the player's choice), and SoulSilver.
While Latios and Latias are very similar, Latios has higher offensive stats. Latios can counter Latias's higher defensive stats with its signature move, Luster Purge. This move has a rather high chance of lowering the target's Special Defense.
In the case of Sapphire, or in a case where Latias is chosen to roam Hoenn in Emerald, an Eon Ticket will take the player to Southern Island for an encounter, like Latias. In HeartGold, Latios will be found in Pewter City after obtaining an Enigma Stone.
