Ingrain (Japanese: ねをはる Extend Roots) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

The user plants roots in the ground, allowing it to restore 1/16th of the user's max HP between turns. This roots it firmly in place, preventing the user from escaping or switching out. Even Whirlwind or Roar cannot force the user to switch out. However, U-turn and Baton Pass may be used to leave battle. If Baton Pass is used by the Pokémon, the effect of Ingrain will be transferred, and will heal any Pokémon, regardless of type.

If the user of Ingrain has Levitate, is Flying-type or under the effect of Magnet Rise it will be vulnerable to Template:Type2 moves while rooted and it will receive damage from Spikes and be poisoned by Toxic Spikes as well. In addiction, it cannot escape or switch out if the opponent has Arena Trap.
