Quotes
Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald
- Before battle
- "Welcome, challenger! I'm Sidney of the Elite Four. I like that look you're giving me. I guess you'll give me a good match. That's good! Looking real good! All right! You and me, let's enjoy a battle that can only be staged here in the Pokémon League!"
- When defeated
- "Well, how do you like that? I lost! Eh, it was fun, so it doesn't matter.
- After being defeated
- "Well, listen to what this loser has to say. You've got what it takes to go far. Now, go on to the next room and enjoy your next battle!"

In the manga
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Sidney first appeared in VS. Kyogre & Groudon XIII before Wallace upon being called on by the Hoenn League champion, Steven, and using his Zangoose tried to break open the seal placed upon Regirock in the Desert Ruins to help avoid the imminent destruction of Hoenn from Groudon and Kyogre's conflict. When Steven, with Sapphire's help, was able to reawaken the three Regis, Sidney, together with Drake, was in charge of Regirock before Steven's death left the three golems freed from their jurisdiction and soon fled.

Trivia
- Sidney is the only member of the Hoenn Elite Four who does not share a specialty type with that of a Kanto Elite Four member of Generation I. However, Karen of the Generation II Elite Four is also a specialist in the Template:Type2.
- Though he specializes in Dark-types, in Pokémon Adventures he has never used one during the story line. Furthermore, he is also the only member of the Hoenn Elite Four in Pokémon Adventures to have never used a Pokémon of his own type during the story line so far. However, this does not mean he does not own any.
- In Emerald, Sidney's Sharpedo is replaced by a Crawdaunt. This is the only change to an Elite Four member's team in any generation that cannot be explained by increased availability between versions, generations or Pokédex completion, or by increasing difficulty in response to the player's increased completion of the game. Drake, another Elite Four member, replaced one of his Flygon with a Kingdra in Emerald, but this could be explained by Horsea's slightly increased availability within Emerald, or by the release of FireRed and LeafGreen.
- Sidneys Cacturne is the only Pokémon in his team that doesn't know a Normal-type move.
