Just inside the entrance, walk to the right to find a Protein. Walk to the left in a counter-clockwise loop to grab an Escape Rope, and walk north to reach the central rock ledge. Pick up the Ultra Ball, head east, and up onto the northern rock ledge. Make a left at the T-intersection to loop around for a Max Elixir. Head northeast to reach the second floor.

From the entryway, surf to the left and climb the nearby waterfall. Step onto the rock ledge, and enter the small tunnel to get a Max Revive. Surf northwest to reach a PP Up. Backtrack to the entryway, grab the Ultra Ball near the east wall, and head north onto the main rock ledge. Step down and surf to the east and up another waterfall. Enter this tunnel to obtain a Full Restore. Pick up the Calcium nearby, ride down the waterfall, surf back to the west, and enter the cave to the north.

Walk across the land bridge, and you'll come face-to-face with the last great challenge of the game - the former League Champion, Pokémon Trainer Red. He commands the highest-leveled team in the game, ranging in level from 73 to 81. In order to take on his team, your Pokémon will need to be able to counter all of his team's types. Even with a type advantage, your team should be at least level 75 to stand a chance. With the right team, and a huge stock of potions, you should be able to defeat this legendary Trainer and finally become the ultimate Pokémon master!
- For his Pikachu, use a strong Ground-type Pokémon, with a powerful move like Earthquake. Pikachu's Electric-type moves cannot hit Ground-types. Flying- and Water-types beware, Thunderbolt and Thunder will cause a world of pain!
- When facing his Espeon, the Dark-type is the best type of offense. Moves like Faint Attack and Crunch will work great. Physical Ghost-type moves work as well.
- With Snorlax on the field, your best bet is a Fighting-type. A move like Cross Chop or Seismic Toss is ideal. Be careful, since it knows Rest and Snore, it can both heal itself and attack while asleep! Use Physical moves to null the effect of Amnesia and his high Special Defense.
- Against Venusaur, the best attacks are Fire- and Flying-types. Be warned that Sunny Day has a three-pronged effect:
- Fighting against Charizard, the ideal attacks are of the Rock- (which is 4x super effective), Water- and Electric-types. Hit it with Surf, Rock Slide, or Thunderbolt to decimate its health.
- Against Blastoise, a powerful Electric- or Grass-type attack, like Thunderbolt or SolarBeam, is recommended. Be aware that it knows Blizzard, so Grass-types should be on their guard. Its Rain Dance can be used against it, as Thunder has 100% accuracy in the rain.

After defeating him, Red pauses for a second, then the screen blacks out. In the blink of an eye, Red is gone, and the credits roll for the second time.
Congratulations, you've finally defeated every opposing Trainer!
The only thing left to do (if you haven't done it yet) is complete the Pokédex. Generation II brought the total number of Pokémon up to 251, so get going!
