Humilau City was first mentioned by Jeremy in BW093 as a suggestion to Kotetsu's eighth gym.

It made its only anime appearance in the latter part of BW094. Marlon brought Ash and Kotetsu here through his Wailord after the two got lost after separating from Cilan and Iris. At Humilau Gym, Kotetsu battled the Gym Leader for his eighth gym badge in Unova.
