Trivia

  • Bouffalant represents May in the Unova horoscope.
  • Bouffalant can appear at Level 56 in the thick grass of Route 23, making it, as well as the three Amoonguss that are disguised as fake items, the highest leveled non-legendary wild Pokémon the player can legally obtain in any game prior to defeating the Elite Four and Champion.

Origin

Bouffalant is based on a buffalo; specifically, an American Bison. However, the horns more closely resemble those of the African Water Buffalo. The fur on its head resembles an afro. It has single-toed hooves like a horse rather than those of a bovine.

Name origin

Bouffalant is a combination of bouffant and buffalo. It may also involve gallant.

Buffron is a combination of buffalo, afro, and bison.
