Jessie's Pumpkaboo (Japanese: ムサシのバケッチャ Musashi's Bakeccha) is the first Pokémon that Jessie captured in the Kalos region.

Pumpkaboo made its first appearance in The Bamboozling Forest!. While walking through a forest, Jessie tripped over Pumpkaboo as it was emerging from underground. While it kept shining its light repeatedly, Jessie threw a Poké Ball at it, successfully catching Pumpkaboo, much to James's surprise. Later, it was used to battle Ash and his friends to prevent them from rescuing a Pangoro and Pancham that Team Rocket had captured. Using its Leech Seed, Pumpkaboo was able to prevent its opponents' Pokémon from moving. It was defeated after Ash gave Pangoro a leaf, allowing it to regain its confidence and easily send Team Rocket blasting off.

It was later used in XY021 in an attempt to prevent Serena from getting to her Fennekin, however, its attack was stopped when Fennekin learned Flamethrower and it was blasted off when Pikachu used Thunderbolt.

Personality and characteristics

Not much is known about Pumpkaboo's personality. It is shown to have a tendency to flash its lights repeatedly.

Trivia

• Pumpkaboo is Jessie's first Grass-type Pokémon.
• Pumpkaboo was shown to be roughly twice as large as James's Inkay. Assuming there were no size discrepancies, this would make Jessie's Pumpkaboo Super Size: Inkay are 1' 04", and Super Size Pumpkaboo are 2' 07".
