Frosmoth (Japanese: モスノウ Mothnow) is a dual-type Ice/Bug Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII.
It evolves from Snom when leveled up with high friendship during the night.
Biology
Frosmoth is a white moth-like Pokémon with a round body, of which the upper half is thicker, giving it the appearance of a ruff. It has deep blue eyes and long eyelashes. It has a blue jewel between its eyes and two long antennae, which are grey at the tip with trapezoid patterns. Frosmoth has two large wings which a grey with a white rim, the patterns on its wings are the same as that on the tip of its antennae.
The ice scales from Frosmoth’s wings can fall like snow while it flies over the fields and mountains. The wings have a temperature of -290 Degrees Fahrenheit. Should anyone desecrate the fields and mountains, Frosmoth will show no mercy. Frosmoth flies around using its icy wings to create blizzards in order to chase away offenders.

Trivia
- No other Pokémon have the same type combination as Frosmoth and its pre-evolved form.
- Frosmoth is one of the few Pokémon along with Shedinja, Snom, and Alolan Ninetales that can be knocked out by entry hazards from full HP. If one of these Pokémon is switched in while 3 layers of Spikes, Stealth Rock, and the effect of G-Max Steelsurge are present on its side of the field, the total damage will be 100% of its HP (as long as its HP is divisible by four). Aurorus and Amaura also share this trait, but are currently unavailable in Sword and Shield — they are slated to return in The Crown Tundra expansion.
Origin
Frosmoth seems to be based on members of the Gynaephora genus of alpine or Arctic moths. One particular species, the arctic woolly bear moth, can enter a dormant state that allows it to endure temperatures as low as −94 °F (−70 °C).
Considering its large size, green-hued Shiny palette, and how it evolves at night, it may also be inspired by the Actias genus of giant silk moths, also known as moon moths or luna moths. This may be further supported by the fact that its wings have elongated tails and resemble translucent white silk fabric. Frosmoth may also draw some inspiration from fluffy flannel moths, some of which are white.
Name origin
Frosmoth may be a combination of frost and moth.
Mothnow may be a combination of moth and snow.
