Main article: List of clothing (Generation VI)

Boutiques across Kalos sell various clothing items with a selection of hats, tops, bottoms, dresses, socks, shoes, bags, and hat accessories. Each boutique in Kalos has a unique selection of clothing and accessories based on the "essence" of its surrounding city.

The player can customize their clothing at fitting rooms which can be found in every Pokémon Center. There are also fitting rooms in the PR Video Studio and at boutiques. Fitting rooms in Pokémon Centers and the PR Video Studio only allow the player to change between clothing they currently own; fitting rooms at boutiques also allow the player try and purchase new clothing.

Fitting rooms (excluding those at boutiques) also allow the player to change their eye color with contact lenses. The list of options available are:

  • Brown

  • Gray
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Take off

The Lens Case must first be obtained at the PR Video Studio in Lumiose City to change the eye colour. The player does not obtain contacts matching their default eye color.

PR Video Studio

In X and Y, the player can use further customization options for their PR Video, such as makeup for female Trainers or facial hair for male Trainers, can be accessed via the makeup artist also located in the PR Video Studio in a similar manner to the hairstylist.

Clothing

Main article: Fashion item

Fashion items are sold at apparel shops with each apparel shop in Alola having a unique selection of fashion items. Players can browse the shop's selection by talking to the attendant. Upon exiting the menu, the player will be prompted to put on any purchased items. To put on any obtained items, the player can also use the fitting room located in back-left corner of every apparel shop. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, fitting rooms are also found in Alola Photo Clubs. Fitting rooms only allow the player to change between clothing they currently own, or change their contact lenses or lip color.

The Trainer customization screen has separate menus for tops, bottoms, socks, shoes, bags, hats, eyewear, and hair accessories.

In the Festival Plaza, the player can dye their white fashion items to different colors at dye houses. The player can use the shop's dyes, or they can use Berries from their Bag to create a dye to use. The player can also redye any item they have previously dyed.
