Origin
Ogerpon may be based on ōni, creatures from Japanese folklore that often are referred to as demons or ogres in English. In particular, it may be based off the ōni who live on Onigashima from the story of Momotarō.
Name origin
Ogerpon and Ōgapon may be derived from ogre.
