Talk:Ogerpon (Pokémon)
Oni Wikipedia link issue
Just noting the spelling of oni is incorrect in the article (spelled incorrectly as "ōni"). As such, the article links to a Wikipedia article on a specific yōkai from Hyakkai Zukan instead of the broader article on oni ClodsireLoudbone (talk) 22:31, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
I've updated the article accordingly. It should link correctly now. Kᴀᴜʟɪ ⸞NᴇᴡTᴀʟᴋ⸟ 22:50, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Ogerpon's type
Ogerpon's s'posed to be Ghost/Grass. Anyone looked into that? Thwackeyrabootdrizzile (talk) 06:13, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- Nope, pure Grass. Pretty sure it being Ghost was a fakeout by some leaker or whoever. Source: this screenshot (spoilers!) Anzasquiddles 2222(:D)SSSS (talk page) 09:08, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
Origin
"May be based on oni"
What do you mean "may be"? The game straightup calls her an ogre/oni. Inkster (talk) 06:55, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Force of habit, i suppose. The Japanese game texts do straight up call Ogerpon an 鬼 oni, so i think it's safe to just put that in the origin. Anzasquiddles 2222(:D)SSSS (talk page) 08:53, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Kidoairaku
an interesting fact i haven't seen anyone bring up yet is that ogerpon's four masks can be tied to the phrase 喜怒哀楽 (kidoairaku). it's a yojijukugo expression that is literally the kanji for "joy, anger, sadness, pleasure" but in practice is used to refer to human emotions (or at least the four "main" ones) (japanese wiktionary entry), (jisho.org entry). ariga, ogerpon's designer, in his confirmation tweet shares art of ogerpon wearing each of the four masks, as well as a separate pose of ogerpon with the mask off, with her mimicking the expression on the mask. the order is teal (happy), hearthflame (angry), wellspring (sad), and cornerstone (amused), which follows the order of the expression (imo "joy" and "pleasure" are like... largely the same but "anger" and "sadness" being in the order they are is a dead ringer). i'm putting this here because i wasn't sure how to word this in ogerpon's article itself without stumbling over my words, so i'd appreciate it if someone could add this trivia in a more concise manner in my place ^_^ Amitie (talk) 01:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
edit: ah. i see it's already in the origin section. that's my bad then. still i feel like the text in that section could be... more palatable? it's a big wall of text where kidoairaku is only a small part in a long paragraph where it might make sense to start adding line breaks - unsigned comment from Amitie (talk • contribs)
Is Ogerpon really Legendary?
Ogerpon's base stat total is only 550, far lower than most other Legendary Pokémon. Is it really even a Legendary? --CuteShaymin (talk) 21:50, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Is the qualification of Legendary based purely on what the Pokémon company says, and not the stats? --CuteShaymin (talk) 21:59, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. They are the ones making the games (technically it's Game Freak, but you get what I mean).--ForceFire 04:54, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
In that case, why isn't Arcanine on the Legendary Pokémon page? The Pokédex literally calls it the Legendary Pokémon. --CuteShaymin (talk) 05:23, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- Because Arcanine is not referred to as Legendary outside of it being categorised as "Legendary" (and isn't a legendary, period). And being categorised as such in the dex doesn't really mean anything.--ForceFire 05:56, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Terastal Ogerpon Appearance
When Ogerpon terastalizes, a small silhouette of the original mask is placed inside the much larger tera jewel mask on the back within her eye line. The eyes also glow Green, Blue, Red, or Gray when Ogerpon uses a move with a Tera boost. - unsigned comment from JadedArts (talk • contribs)
