Snorlax?

Isn't it possible for Snorlax to learn this somehow? I'm unsure, but doesn't it learn it by breeding? Er, in Generation IV, that is. Dark Sage 05:15, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't imagine so. Remember, Gen I's TM list sucked compared to the rest, and TMs are only passed down to compatible Pokémon when they're a TM in the generation being bred in. Meaning that you can't get a Smoochum with DynamicPunch in Gen III without tutoring it, but you can in Gen II by breeding with a Pokémon that's already learned it.
Well, I don't see how that's relevant, but I found out that it learns it via Move Tutor in Pokémon XD, so I guess I could add that. Dark Sage 05:15, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
It is possible with the Pokewalker if you evolve a munchlax from Winner's Road. P.S If you guys can help make that Munchlax entry I made bold for STAB I'd appreciate it, for some reason it is bugging out on me when I put on the apostrophes. Wilyweavile 15:17, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Both trainers on their last Pokemon

If both trainers are on their last pokemon, and one uses Explosion/Selfdestruct, knocking the other out, who wins? In the following situations:

  • In-game, the player's last pokemon uses Explosion/Self destruct and knocks out a wild pokemon.
  • In-game, the player's last pokemon uses Explosion/Selfdestruct and knocks out an NPC trainer's last pokemon.
  • In-game, a wild pokemon uses Explosion/Selfdestruct and knocks out the player's last pokemon.
  • In-game, an NPC trainer's last pokemon uses Explosion/Selfdestruct and knocks out the player's last pokemon.
  • Over the GTS/link cable, one player's last pokemon uses Explosion/Selfdestruct and knocks out the other player's last pokemon.

On halving defense power....

The article currently notes that prior to Generation V, the game divides the target's Defense score by half when calculating damage (and to prevent dividing by zero, rounds zero up to one). Thus, if the target had a Defense score of exactly 1 point, Selfdestruct would inflict the rated base power instead of double its base power. However, all Pokemon have an absolute minimum 5 points (4 with a hindering Nature) in their permanent stats, so in practice the only way this would happen is on a Pokemon with less than 8 points base Defense (or Special Defense, respectively) and their Defense score lowered by six stages before the opponent uses Selfdestruct.

Is this minor point still worth mentioning at all? It sounds more like trivia now. --Stratelier 18:49, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

STAB

Although X/Y data hasn't come in yet, should it be noted that the Snorlax evolution line are they only Pokémon that get STAB from Self Destruct? Xolotl (talk) 12:32, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
