The Teal Mask (Japanese: 碧の仮面 The Turquoise Mask) is the first expansion in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It was released on September 13, 2023 at 10 am JST.
It is followed by The Indigo Disk.
Plot
The player will be chosen to take part in a school trip that is held each year in collaboration with another school. They’ll be taken to the land of Kitakami, where a great mountain towers over the land and the people live at its base. It is a place of tranquil natural expanses, featuring rice paddies and apple orchards. The trip seems to coincide with a festival regularly held in the village in Kitakami during this season, so the village is bustling with various street vendors and stalls. Players will meet new friends and Pokémon as they unravel the mysteries behind the folktales that have been passed down in this land.

Kitakami natives Carmine and her little brother Kieran are introduced.[1] Blueberry Academy teacher Briar[2] and Photographer Perrin appear as well.[3]

The Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon debuts in The Teal Mask, it comes with four forms: Teal Mask, Wellspring Mask, Hearthflame Mask, and Cornerstone Mask. Each form also has a special Tera form when it terastalizes.[4] A group of Pokémon called the Loyal Three[5], consisting of Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti, are introduced. An evolution of Applin called Dipplin debuts as well.[6] Another Pokémon added is Poltchageist which, although it heavily resembles Sinistea, is an entirely different species.[7][8] Its evolution, Sinistcha, which heavily resembles Polteageist but is also a different species, is also added. A new form of Ursaluna called Bloodmoon Ursaluna debuts in this expansion.

Returning Pokémon
Over 100 returning Pokémon from previous games will be made available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet alongside the release of The Teal Mask. These include:
New Activities
Timeless Woods
A side quest in Kitakami involves the player working together with Perrin in the Timeless Woods, an area in Kitakami where people rarely visit. The main goal is to help Perrin look for a mysterious Pokémon, revealed to be Bloodmoon Ursaluna. The player will take snapshots of Pokémon living in the forest while searching for the mysterious Pokémon.[3] The side Quest is unlocked after captuing 150 Pokémon in the Kitakami Pokédex and speaking to Perrin.
Ogre Oustin’
Ogre Oustin’ is a minigame players can participate in, which involves the player collecting Berries by popping Ogre Balloons while riding KoraidonS/MiraidonV and bringing them back to the Berry Tables for points. Up to three other players can join either online or via local play. Some tasks players can focus on are collecting far-away berries or driving away greedy Pokémon seeking to eat the collected berries. The reward for finishing the minigame is Mochi.[9]
Mass Outbreak Events
Limited-time Mass Outbreak Events differ from a normal Mass Outbreak, in which the same species of a Pokémon will appear in multiple mass outbreaks for a limited time, not the entire 24 hours seen with a typical Mass Outbreak.[10]
Moves
A new move is introduced, Syrup Bomb, which is the signature move of Dipplin.[6]
Abilities
The Loyal Three Pokémon share a new signature ability called Toxic Chain.[11] Dipplin will also debut its signature ability Supersweet Syrup[6], while Poltchageist is revealed to have the signature ability Hospitality.[8]
Items
Two new items are introduced, Mochi and the Roto-Stick.[9]
Mochi comes in seven types and can be used to increase the base points of a Pokémon’s stats by one, while the seventh type, the Fresh-Start Mochi, can be used to reset all the stats of a Pokémon's base points.
The Roto-Stick enables players to take photos with wider angles, with new poses as well as directing Pokémon during photos. If taken during Union Circle sessions, players will be able to share photos with the other members of their group.

- Outside of the Treasure Eatery in Medali, a poster containing silhouettes of the Pokémon Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti can be seen, which hinted at this expansion.
