History

The Absol Myth

Absol first appeared in Absol Absolved!. Absol was originally a Pokémon living on Mt. Chimney until it sensed a phreatic eruption was going to strike the residents of Lavaridge Town. It came down to warn them, but they blamed Absol for their hot springs drying up. When Ash and Goh began investigating, it stopped them from catching a Glalie, as doing so would speed up the eruption. Upon discovering the true source of the problem—a huge boulder blocking the hot springs—Ash and Goh joined Absol in breaking it. As the boulder broke and a blast of pressurized steam erupted from under it, Goh caught Absol to save it from the blast. Afterward, he offered it the chance to go free, but Absol chose to stay with him.

In The Spectral Express!, Goh uses Absol to distract a rampaging Spiritomb while Allister removed one of its spirits from Ash's body. Despite its best efforts, Absol struggled to keep up with the Forbidden Pokémon until Ash's Gengar showed up. Working together, the two managed to return the lost spirit to Spiritomb.

In This Could be the Start of Something Big!, Absol attended a surprise party hosted by the Lab members commemorating Goh and Ash's departure.

Personality and characteristics

Absol and Goh

Absol is a Pokémon with a heroic personality and an incredible sense of responsibility. Upon realizing an eruption was going to hit the residents of Lavaridge Town, Absol came down from its home to warn them. Despite their hostility, Absol continued to try and help them, even putting itself in harm’s way to protect them from a superheated eruption. It has a high level of respect for its Trainer, deciding to stay with him after they worked together to stop the crisis.
