In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, the Journal records limited notes on the player's daily gameplay activities, and can be viewed from the Bag. It records a maximum of 10 entries sequentially, and a new entry is recorded when the game is loaded with a date different from the most recent journal entry, deleting the oldest entry if 10 already exist. It is brought up automatically upon loading a save if the current date does not match the date of the last save, or the day after, and does not create a new entry until it is closed.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Guidebook allows the player to review previously-seen explanations on various topics, similar to the Adventure Guide introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
