The Pokémon Game Sound Library (Japanese: Pokémon Game Sound Library(ポケモンゲームサウンドライブラリー)), previously known as the Pokémon DP Sound Library, is a website that hosts music from select core series games for listening and download. It is managed by The Pokémon Company and is currently available only in Japan and select Asian countries and regions.

History

The site was originally launched in Japan in Japanese only as the Pokémon DP Sound Library on December 23, 2021, featuring the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl soundtrack to commemorate the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.[1] It was created as part of an internal project called Pokémon Music Spotlight, which began in spring 2021, which also led to the creation of Reconnect and Grown as part of P25 Music.[2] An English version of the site was later made available in 13 countries and regions (the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) on February 2, 2022.[3][4] The Japanese site could not be visited outside of Japan, and the English site could not be visited in Japan or in any other countries and regions not listed. The DP Sound Library was discontinued on May 31, 2022.

The service was re-launched as the Pokémon Game Sound Library in both Japanese and English on February 27, 2023. The soundtrack of Pokémon Red and Blue and the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet main theme were made available, along with the tracks previously available on the DP Sound Library. Unlike the DP Sound Library, the site is no longer available in countries and regions where The Pokémon Company International holds distribution rights. The Japanese site cannot be visited outside of Japan, and the Asian site cannot be visited in Japan or outside of Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. From February 28 to March 12, 2023, a campaign where customers at the Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores in Japan could receive one of two types of Pokémon Game Sound Library stickers.[5]

On February 27, 2024, the soundtracks of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen were made available on the Japanese site.

Features

The website allows users to listening to music via online streaming and download WAV-format audio files or musical scores.

On the Music Box page, users can listen to soundtracks of various games. On the Playlist page, users can listen to 10 curated playlists of songs. The player features a play/pause button that continues playing or pauses the song, a previous button that starts playing the previous song, a next button that starts playing the next song, a repeat toggle, a shuffle toggle, and a progress bar. Up to six songs can be added to the Party Track list, which allows users to share their list to Twitter, LINE, Facebook, or as a link.

The Download page allows users to download audio files and musical scores at no cost for personal use, as long as the guidelines and Terms of Use are agreed to and followed. After agreeing, the user may fill out a survey.
