Revision as of 04:07, 14 August 2008
The Nintendo DS is Nintendo's latest addition to their handheld line-up. It was released in November 21, 2004 in North America and Japan, and March 11, 2005 in Europe.
Like the Game Boy Advance, it received an updated, more compact design after a while, the Nintendo DS Lite, which has brighter screens and a casing and buttons more similar in design to the Wii. Some features of the DS include:
- Two screens, one of which is touch-sensitive
- Audio reception and perception
- Built in wireless connection via WiFi
- Backwards compatibility with Game Boy Advance games (though multiplayer functions for GBA games are not supported).
The Nintendo DS has sold more than 71 million units worldwide, as can be seen here
Pokémon games
- Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (RPG)
- Pokémon Dash (Racing Game)
- Pokémon Trozei! (Puzzle Game)
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (Dungeon-RPG)
- Pokémon Ranger (Action-RPG)
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (Dungeon-RPG)
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (Dungeon-RPG)
- Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Action-RPG)
Pokémon specials
- Nintendo DS: The winner of the Pokémon Journey Across America, Minh Ba Le, won a very special diamond-encrusted DS.
- Nintendo DS: Special dark blue Nintendo DS systems were released at Poképark in Japan and Wal-Mart in the US. The systems have the Poképark logo on the front cover, and a Pikachu silhouette superimposed over the right speaker grill.
- Nintendo DS: A Nintendo DS with Mew has been released in Japan. It is tinted purple with the Pokémon lightly printed on the front and adjacent to the top screen.
