Infernape (Japanese: ゴウカザル Goukazaru) is a dual-type Fire/Fighting Pokémon.

Trivia
- Infernape is the shortest final form of a starter Pokémon standing at only 3 feet and 11 inches (1.2 meters).
- Chimchar and Monferno have a flame on their tail, but Infernape has the flame on its head instead.
- Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh starter Pokémon not to have a unique type combination.
- Infernape has the second-highest Speed of the starters (second only to Sceptile). Because of this, some consider Infernape to be a stronger version of Blaziken. However, it does have a lower Attack base stat than Blaziken.
- Infernape shares the same species name as Charmeleon and Charizard, Flareon, and Moltres. They are all known as Flame Pokémon.
- Infernape is the only fully evolved Sinnoh starter Pokémon to be affected by sandstorm, as Empoleon is part Template:Type2 and Torterra is part Template:Type2.
Origin
Infernape is based on a monkey. It is also possible that he is based on Sun Wukong, the Chinese mythical "Monkey King". The gold elements in his design seem to indicate this, and his name can also be linked to Japanese interpretations of the character (e.g. Son Goku). Its appearance is similar to the Colobus Monkeys of Africa.
Name origin
Goukazaru is a combination of 業火 gōka, hellfire or inferno, and 猿 saru, ape. Infernape is a combination of "inferno" and "ape". Its German name, Panferno, comes from Schimpanse and inferno. Its French name, Simiabraz, comes from simia, latin for monkey, and braise, ember.
