It evolves from Glameow at level 38.

Purugly looks like a big gray and white cat, with a tail similar to Glameow . It still has a crescent shape head. Its ears are pointed and purple-colored. It has whiskers with a zigzag like pattern at the end of them.

Its English name comes from the words "purr" and "ugly". Its Japanese name may be derived from a combination of デブ debu , fat, にゃ nya , meow, and the English word "cat".
Its German name, Shnurgarst, comes from schnurren and garstig . Its French name, Chaffreux, comes from chat and affreux .
