Magby is a small, red duck/salamander like creature with a human stance. It only has a short stub of a tail that doesn't have a flame on it. Magby has a flame-shaped spot on its stomach, a single spike on its back and stubby arms. Magby's head is covered with large lumps that resemble hair.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Magby can mostly learn anything that Magmar can know, but Magby isn't as strong.
Behavior
A Magby's health is determined by the flames that it spews from its mouth. Yellow flames show that a Magby is in good health while a Magby that is spewing flames that are mixed with a lot of smoke show that it is fatigued.
Magby's state of health is determined by observing the fire it breathes. If the Pokémon is spouting yellow flames from its mouth, it is in good health. When it is fatigued, black smoke will be mixed in with the flames.

Magby is the only Fire-type Pokémon who isn't a starter Pokémon that evolves twice.
Magby's Generation III sprites and its Generaton IV sprites are the same, with the shading on its head being the only noticable difference.
In its Crystal sprite, it is incorrectly colored a shade of lavender.
Origin
Magby seems to be a combination of a duck or booby with a mythical salamander of fire. The spike on its back gives resemblance to a baby iguana.
Name origin
Magby's name is a combination of magma, intrusive molten rock, and baby. Its Japanese name might be a combination of booby, a type of sea bird, and baby.
