Synopsis

May displays her newly acquired ribbon as everyone is sitting on tires in a nearby field. Ash wants to hurry off to the next Frontier contest as both May and Max tell him to wait as May shows him an advertisement for a Noodle Restaurant and Max shows Ash an advertisement for The Strongest Pokémon at the Pokémon Dojo.

The line seems to be very long with everyone smashed together trying to get inside the restaurant. The Noodle Chef and a girl exit from the restaurant and are fighting as May becomes fired up and Brock falls in love with the girl. They both dash off towards the group and continue off into the distance.

Meanwhile with Team Rocket, Meowth has constructed a stand to sell items or services. Ash and Max are walking in the distance as both James and Jessie notice them. After a few seconds, they dash off towards the two as Meowth tells them to wait a second. Ash and Max successfully arrive at the Dojo while Max wonders if that is really the dojo. Ash and Max ask if anyone is there as an eruption begins and an old man ejects from the stadium and lands gracefully in front of Ash and Max. The old man introduces himself as Master Hamm, both Ash and Max exchange greetings as-well. Master Hamm then starts pushing Ash into the dojo while nearby Team Rocket are spying nearby and notice that Ash has adventured off to the Pokémon Dojo.

Inside the dojo, Max and Ash are cleaning the floor of the dojo as Master Hamm is ordering them around. While cleaning the floor, both Max and Ash wonder where the battles are. Off in the distance, a strange noise starts emitting from the walls as the two people from before walk through the doorway with both May and Brock following. The young woman recognizes May as the winner of the Saffron Pokémon Contest, May asks if she was a contender but she denies it and says that she watched it on television. She then starts talking with Master Hamm as Kyle envelopes in an argument with Master Hamm and they both go at it with Master Hamm swinging his sword wildly and both yelling back and forth. The woman then introduces her self as Terri, also revealing that she is the only student in the dojo.

Brock tries to interrupt the arguing with his own 'solution' (Him marrying Terri and then taking over instead) but it proves to be no effect as everyone ignores him and the two are still fighting. Master Hamm then says that a one-on-one Pokémon battle is the only way to solve this, saying that if Kyle loses he will take over the Dojo, but if he wins he is free to do whatever he wants. Kyle accepts and they both take places at opposite sides of the field. Master Hamm then quickly calls upon Hitmonlee from which Ash looks up its data in his Pokédex. Kyle then quickly releases Hitmonchan from which May, much like Ash does, looks up its data in her Pokédex. With Hitmonlee's fast kicks and Hitmonchan's fast punches, this will be an unbelievable battle. Kyle tells Hitmonchan to use Mach Punch which it quickly does, it knocks Hitmonlee back as a result but it quickly recovers. Master Hamm then jumps into the air kicking forward and directs Hitmonlee to use Jump Kick but then injures his back. Ash offers to fill in for Master Hamm and Master Hamm allows him to do so, but since the battle is pointless if Kyle is battling a replacement May offers to battle against Ash to which Kyle agrees. Both then go to train their Pokémon for the battle.

Nearby outside of the dojo, Team Rocket is spying on their actions. Hariyama and Hitmonlee are heated in battle as each quickly deliver attacks to one another and clash in the middle. Hitmonlee's Rolling Kick proves successful and sends Hariyama spinning uncontrollably as Hitmonlee then delivers a Hi Jump Kick which knocks Hariyama back and lands on top of Team Rocket hiding in the bushes knocking Hariyama out and making unable to battle.

In the second round, Breloom and Hitmonchan are battling it out with both competitors throwing punches. Breloom then emits a Stun Spore but Hitmonchan quickly dodges this attack and the spores then floats over to Team Rocket and quickly stuns the trio. Breloom then uses Sky Uppercut and May orders Hitmonchan to do the same and then has Hitmonchan do Mach Punch which knocks Breloom out and making it unable to battle. Terri suggests that he just take over the Dojo but Kyle refuses calling the Dojo a dump. Terri then defends the Dojo and Kyle claims that he didn't mean it while Terri apologizes to saying that she always thought that they would run the Dojo together someday. To which May thinks that Terri has feelings for Kyle which makes Brock go crazy as he does every time he is rejected by a girl for another boy.

The third round of the battle to begin with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. Ash commands Hitmonlee to use a Rolling Kick, to which May commands Hitmonchan to use Sky uppercut. Both attacks hit the other, sending them both to the ground. Both of the Pokémon quickly recover, May then commands Hitmonchan to use Mach Punch so Ash commands Hitmonlee to use Jump Kick, resulting in Hitmonchan being knocked to the wall, but it is still ready to fight so May has it use Comet Punch and Ash has Hitmonlee dodge it but Hitmonchan eventually hits Hitmonlee and it knocks Hitmonlee onto its back, but it struggles onto its feet. May commands Hitmonchan to use Mach punch which forces Hitmonlee into a wall. May, being all fired up for the battle noodles, says that no one is going to stop her, then has Hitmonchan use Agility after Hitmonlee gets on its' feet and then Mach Punch, to which Hitmonlee responds with a Hi Jump Kick, knocking Hitmonchan down. Both May and Ash have Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan use Focus Punch, but Team Rocket comes in just before they hit each other.

After reciting their Motto and the smoke clears it reveals that both Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are caught in a net! Then they try to make their get a way but Terri stops them and has her Hitmontop come out and use Rapid Spin which releases the two Pokémon and then use Mega Kick, breaking the Machine. Ash then has Pikachu use Thunderbolt, sending Team Rocket blasting off again!

Terri asks Kyle why making noodles is so important and Kyle says it all started with a bowl of noodles his dad made for him. He wanted to make noodles just like his fathers and run a successful business. Apologies are exchanged and Kyle asks what is going to happen now. Master Hamm says that Kyle must continue his noodle shop and that when he is ready to let him try some. Kyle then hugs his father while Master Hamm says that all he wanted for Kyle was for him to be happy. Terri then offers to take over the Dojo for Master Hamm, which he accepts. Kyle asks if he can make thoughs same noodles for him one more time, which he replies to with, "You got it!" and then makes noodles for everyone. After eating the delicious noodles, Ash and his friends head off to the Battle Arena.
