Effect

The next move made by the user of this move will not miss even if the target has used a move similar to Fly. However if the target uses a move such as Detect or has switched out, the user's next move could miss.

Trivia

Even though Mind Reader's name implies that it is a Template:Type2 move, it is actually a Template:Type2 move.

A common moveset in Generation III was to run a Poliwrath with Mind Reader/Fissure for a guaranteed OHKO, assuming Poliwrath survived to the second turn (Fissure could be obtained by a Generation I TM). In Generation III onward, Articuno can use Mind Reader/Sheer Cold in a similar manner, and [[Smeargl]e] can use either Mind Reader or Lock-On with any of the OHKO moves.
