It evolves from Surskit starting at level 22.

It is capable of weliding Bug-type and Flying-type moves, but is also capable of learning many Water-type and Ice-type moves as well. Trivia
- Masquerain's antennae changed from orange in Generation III to red in Generation IV.
- Masquerain, a moth-like Pokémon, evolves from Surskit, a water strider-like Pokémon, despite the fact that the two real animals aren't even in the same order of insects.
- Despite its Pokédex entries saying that it will not be able to fly during rain, in the games nothing will happen to Masquerain during rain.
- Masquerain is so far the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 414.
Origin
Masquerain is based on insects (especially moths) with eyespots used to frighten would-be predators. It is also possible that Masquerain was designed to look like a mask. Both of its antennae have designs that look like eyes, much like an owl butterfly. Also, its flight is similar to that of a damselfly.
Name origin
Masquerain's name is a combination of masquerade, a disguise, and rain. Its Japanese name is a combination of 雨 ame, rain, and English moth.
