Talk:Victini (Pokémon)
About its National number
Yeah, I know, it's #000 while Tsutarja's #001. Just because of this we cannot assume that it comes before Tsutarja in the National Dex. Tsutarja's staying numbered 494, Pokabu 497, and Mijumaru 500 until we find out otherwise. Because remember, Arceus and other non-Johto Pokémon are #000 if they're caught by hacking before getting the National Dex. Hell, in all honesty, Victini may indeed be #000 in the National Dex, too. TTEchidna 00:28, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Couldn't they have just said that so we won't know how many new Pokémon they'll have? That makes sense to me. ----Zewis (29) 13:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Highly likely. I hear the number's something like 160... more than Kanto brought us, even. TTEchidna 09:06, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Apparently, Serebii confirmed that Victini is #494.--Purimpopoie 14:17, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- PokeBeach also said that it's National Pokédex number was 494, but this news is best taken with a grain of salt, until the game is officially released. Hopefully, it'll be #000, otherwise, it'll be the first time that the starters came AFTER a legendary Pokémon within the Isshu section of the National Pokédex (English name for Isshu to be seen sometime in 2011)--Kangaflora 20:49, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Worth mentioning in the trivia, (whether going by Isshu number or national number) that Victini as an Isshu Pokémon is the first Pokémon to come BEFORE the starters of the region? Serebii even confirmed it's national number as 494, coming after Arceus and before Tsutarja making it the first time a regional Pokemon came before the starters of that same region. Worth mentioning after the games are released? --Brats817 00:39, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, we don't use Serebii as a source. Second of all, after the game is released, we can add this, but I wouldn't mentioned national number until the game confirms what its national number is. Phantom♫Junkie 00:43, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- The glitch Pokemon that a walk-anywhere cheat will give you if you encounter a wild Pokemon before obtaining a starter is always #000. Does that mean they will get Victini when they try that in generation V? Maybe Game Freak did this on purpose to prevent glitch Pokemon from messing up the game? --~~AuraGaurdian 05:00, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
user page
why is this article part of a user page? Breawycker 21:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not Sol, but it is because these pages must be created in the userspace for inspection before they are mainspaced. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 21:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Legendary
Didn't it say somewhere that Victini was a "mirage Pokémon"? — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 22:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I added that it was a legendary Pokémon, since that's all that's listed for other legendary Pokémon articles. ~ solaris 22:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Unknown-type
The article should not link to Unknown (type), since it implies that Victini has that as its type when really its type is not known. --Transfinite | Talk 12:04, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- If its type were ???, it would be listed as ???, not Unknown. Unknown means we do not know it. --SnorlaxMonster 12:06, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Liberty Ticket
Should it be noted that Victini is only the second Pokémon of illusions (the group with Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, etc.) to have an event item to trigger its appearance in-game in its original generation? Yes, there was the ticket to the island to get Mew in Gen III, but as far as original generations go, there's this and there was the GS Ball available through the cell phone connection thing in Japanese Pokémon Crystal. And that didn't even make it out of Japan, whereas the Liberty Ticket will likely see worldwide distribution via Wi-Fi.--PhantomJunkie 17:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Type
Victini's type is Psychic/Fire.

- Hey, can someone please change the type effectiveness to this to match the type:
{{DP type effectiveness| type1=Psychic| type2=Fire| Normal= 100 | Fighting= 50 | Flying= 100 | Poison= 100 | Ground= 200 | Rock= 200 | Bug= 100 | Ghost= 200 | Steel= 50 | Fire= 50 | Water= 200 | Grass= 50 | Electric= 100 | Psychic= 50 | Ice= 50 | Dragon= 100 | Dark= 200 }} ? Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 14:16, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Also, that picture shows that Victini's ability is Victory Star. --Shiny Noctowl 16:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
In the trivia it says Victini is the only Psycic/fire type. I think it may be a bit to early to call this fact becaus we do not know about all the new pokemon yet. - unsigned comment from EpicShadow (talk • contribs)
- I guess that's true. I've commented out the trivia until there's definite evidence. :P ~ solaris 19:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- We could make it say like "Victini is the only currently known Psychic/Fire Pokémon", which leaves a bit more room for Pokémon to be revealed later with the same type combination, we just don't know about them yet. I'm cool with just commenting it out for now though. --ZestyCactus 19:12, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
I just realized that Hihidaruma's daruma form is Fire/Psychic is that considerd the same or is it considerd different because of Psychic being the secondary type? --EpicShadow 22:35, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Daruma Mode overrules Victini. --SnorlaxMonster 15:07, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm just saying if we didn't aknowledge the simmiler typing, it would be like saying Shaymin's sky form is not Grass/Flying. Both Victini and Hihidaruma's type combination share the same weaknesses and strengths the only difference is the order they are listed.--EpicShadow 16:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Redirects
I don't have the authority to creat them, apparently, so should/can someone create the basic redirects. You know, Victini and Victini (Pokemon). Thanks, Samjohn95 00:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- ビクティニ also doesn't redirect to this article, and such. Anyone mind doing that too? Rai Marshall 23:46, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Origin
I once explained this in the talk page of the Bulbanews article about it, I'm just going to copy and paste what I said here.
"He's going on about a possible origin of Victini. From what I've seen with its appearance AND name, Victini's origin may be derived from the concept of being victorious, possibly a reference that one may feel victorious once obtaining all of the necessary requirements to obtain a certain legendary and then obtaining said legendary. In this case, Victini needs the letter to be obtained.
Further more, it does have a lot of references to the letter V in its appearance. Its ears are V shaped, it has a V shape on its chest, and it's also holding up two fingers. While in America where holding up two fingers would mean 'peace', in Japan doing so would mean victory. So as previously stated, 'V for Victory'. I find all of this to be relevant."
In short, Victini is likely derived from the concept of victory, with some rodent-like features. It could also have some traits of foxes, but I personally believe that its origin is the concept of victory, if anything really. Rai Marshall 00:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- If victory(V) is shown by the finger, it becomes a meaning of two(ni). It seems to relate to the origin of the name of Victi"ni". Sawamular101 01:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- While it can mean two, in any given country, it is also commonly used to refer to as "V for Victory". Even some Americans think that way too. Coupled with the references to V and its species name, I still do believe it is also based on the concept of victory. Rai Marshall 01:34, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Because Species is a victory Pokemon(しょうりポケモン), your idea is correct.Sawamular101 01:45, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
A part of origin of Victini. It might be "うさぎリンゴ(usagi ringo /rabbit Apple)".
Usagi ringo is traditionally a popular item for Japanese children’s box lunches. It is guessed that Victini looks like the rabbit because of relating to rabbit-Apple.
Sawamular101 00:33, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I'm convinced on the rabbit part. Rai Marshall 00:35, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Team Rocket tells the story that captures Victini. The author is having them hint the relation between Victini and "Usagi ringo". Sawamular101 11:00, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Dex Entry
Apparently, we have a confirmed dex entry? I've seen it reported but found no source, so if anyone wants to go looking for that - it should be out there. Me, Hurray! 16:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Promotion-only Pokémon
Since it is activated only by a Nintendo event, why not put it into the Promotion-only Pokémon category? - unsigned comment from HTMLCODER.exe (talk • contribs)
Possibility of the origin
Could all the V's in Victini's design have something to do with the fact that this is Generation V? AdamRS92 01:45, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- VICTORY not Five Ataro 02:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's possible that it is a small reference to Gen V too, but very unlikely.--Pokélova! 04:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
V
Victini, to me, seems to have the charecteristics of British Prime Minester, Winston Churchill, as 'V for Victory' is his common symbol! - User:Cynthia149 17:03, 14 September 2010
- More like V for Vendetta. Victini is just a general "YOU WIN" thing. And Isshu is New York, not the UK. Wait until Gen IX. TTEchidna 16:11, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- If you may have forgotten, Pokemon USA and Pokemon UK are working together as Pokemon International, there a more stronger relation between America and the UK than you may think! - User:Cynthia149 17:14, 14 September 2010
- Pokémon USA obviously having at least ten times the influence. Aside from the fact that all of the Pokémon are made in Japan by Game Freak, not by TPCi, there's no reason to assume "O LOL CHURCHILL". It's an applebunny Missingno. that takes on the Generation V role of Mew as the "secret guy", like a lot of other Gen V Pokémon take their inspiration from Gen I Pokémon. TTEchidna 02:37, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Straying away from the Churchill argument here, but could the V stand for the roman numeral of 5? As in Generation V? Being that it comes right after Arceus, it's almost like it's there to signify the arrival of the 5th generation. Of course, I may be going to far out on a limb here. --ケンジのガール 09:37, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- That's an interesting coincidence, but I think that and other theories for the letter V should be under Trivia/Origin instead of Biology/Physiology. --Johans 17:49, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
National dex
I cannot endorse it being assumed as #494 until I get a picture of Arceus followed by this guy in the Pokédex. TTEchidna 02:19, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Fennecs?

V-Generate?
As one of Victini's signature moves, it should be in the article, but it's not even shown on its movelist. Is there a way to at least mention it? --RiverAura 23:12, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- V-Generate is not confirmed to be Victini's signature move. --SnorlaxMonster 02:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Nuke?
Unova is based on New York (The Manhattan Project), Victini is fire type to get STAB on the most powerful none-sacrificial move in the game (The atomic bomb's sheer power), and it's PokéDex entries state that any trainer with a Victini will always win (World War II in the pacific was brought to an end with an atomic bombing of Japan). So yeah, like alot of people from other sites seem to be saying, this thing is possibly intended to be based on an atomic bomb in a way. Shiramu Kuromu 22:28, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- The most powerful non-sacrificial move. If it were truly based on the atomic bomb, it would likely be Steel-type, and almost certainly learn explosion, which is both the most powerful move and clearly represents an explosion. Unova is based on New York, yes, but that does not relate to Victini. Victini is based on the concept of victory, so that is why any Trainer with Victini will always win. --SnorlaxMonster 01:55, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Origin Detail
It states that Victini may be based off of usagi-ringo, and that this is especially true with the shiny form, but I think that Victini's normal form looks more like it than the shiny form. I think this piece of info should be left out, or it should state that both the shiny form and normal coloration resemble usagi-ringo. --Landfish7 16:33, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Victini is Junichi Masuda's new favorite Pokemon!
Thanks to this IGN article ( http://ds.ign.com/articles/115/1150433p1.html ), we now know that Junichi no longer likes Pichu as his favorite and now likes Victini instead. I added this to the trivia already, but I can't put the link to the referrence up properly. Anyone know how to do this? I would be great because Goruugu and Gobitto have the same kind of thing in their trivias. RedLuigi 02:32, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Nevermind, got it fixed. :) RedLuigi 02:42, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
When can you get Victini?
Do you have to get to a certain point in the game or can you get it as soon as you begin the game? Gryffindor1991 17:28, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Certain point in the game. Castelia City, to be exact. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 18:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
event
In Corocoro the full details of the event Victini (m14) is given. Victini has the moves: V-Create, Searing Shot as wel as Zekrom's and Reshiram's singnature move's: Fusion Flare and Fusion Bolt. He is holding a Fire gem and is in a Cherisch Ball. it is avaible from April 16 to August 31. Can somebody set this in a page. --Nazirbashir 18:49, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Mythical Pokémon?
The official site repeatedly refers to Victini as a "Mythical Pokémon". Is this worth noting on either this page or the Legendary Pokémon page? The term has already been used in Japan to refer to Sinnoh's legends, but never in English. --jda95 06:20, 1 February 2011 (UTC) I say Mythical , but they revurt th page!--MatthewCenance 13:24, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- No. It's just an adjective that means the same thing as "legendary". We already have an article for Legendary Pokémon, so stop being a dumbass. (And new sections go at the bottom of the page.) --Transfinite | Talk 13:41, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
learn signature moves
in the Victini event, (Dec 20 to Dec 31) it started with Zekrom's and Resiram's signature move. so does that make the moves make them not a signature move? --use worm wormey! 23:47, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- You're asking if those moves are still considered signatures? Since this was a special event, I would say that they are. There's no other way for any other Pokémon to learn them. Crystal Talian 23:51, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
