Just wondering...

You've blocked two or three users just now on the grounds that they are bots. I can't help but wonder, how can you tell? They haven't made any edits yet. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 03:41, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I am unable to explain how I can tell that such accounts are bots, as it may allow the bot operators to avoid such detection. However, trust me when I say: If I block an account for being a bot, it is a bot. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:59, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Need some help

A message that I already sent to Kenji-Girl is that the user {{u|ShalashaskaADV]] has been making edits only on his talk page repeatedly, even after administrators had asked him to stop. Could you look into it? -Tyler53841 08:37, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

BW023

Because its title was protected, I had to create it on userspace. Could you mainspace it? Here is proof. And I'm aware that Adyniz has also a page titled "BW023", but if you look closely, it's actually for BW025.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 11:11, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Messages From Blocked Users

About half an hour ago ( 7:30pm London ) a blocked user messaged me to ask if i can make some edits. While i have no uncertanty towards doing it, i was just wondering if this goes against any rules. The user in question is Rokuto i believe. Just wanted to know before i do anything Robster10 19:56, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, making edits for blocked users is a violation of the rules, so don't make any edits for them. If you could, please send me a copy of the e-mail (including sender's e-mail address & date/time) using this page. Thanks. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 20:01, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Pokemon Podcast

Hey!

Hope all is going well. I'm not sure if you remember my post you blocked back in October of 2010. Anyways, I started making a Bulbapedia page for "The Pokemon Podcast" www.pkmncast.com

It was taken off because: The cast started this summer, it's far too new to be notable enough for an article. (Bulbacast & WTPT have been around for much, much longer than just a few months.) You didn't add any categories, nor did it have the notice for falling under Project Fandom. (Both of these are extremely important, and should never be forgotten.)

Then you said: Now, if the podcast continues to grow and shows notability by the end of the year, we may allow an article to be created.

Well funny story now. The Pokémon Podcast has the most reviews and is the highest rated Pokemon podcast EVER in iTunes, with over 120 five star reviews. On top of that it has 400 likes on the Facebook group, more then WTPT and PUCL. They also have a growing community of 250+ members. I'm not saying that I should be the one to edit it, because I'm not good at that stuff, but I think that ban should be lifted so someone could make the page.

Also, they are selling shirts to donate money to Japan. Pretty cool.

Anyways, hope to hear from you!

Committhistomemory 20:06, 13 April 2011 (UTC)committhistomemory

We'll look into the notability of this podcast. If it's deemed to be notable enough now for an article, we'll let you know & allow a page to be created. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 04:27, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm quite bored

Sorry, I'm a little bit bored and I never use my account once again. Can you delete my account and my messed accounts? PLEASE. The reason why...because I never use my account and little bit bored. I will create a new one soon if you delete it. Is that acceptable? Luis Felix(Appreciate me here | Sandbox | Party) 08:09, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

There's a couple of problems with that idea.
  1. Accounts cannot be deleted for any reason. (We can, however, ban the account so it's inaccessible.)
  2. If you're just going to make another account, what's the point of getting rid of the account you already have?
Unless you have a legitimate reason for us to ban your current account & allow you to come back with a "fresh start," the answer is no. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 04:27, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Battrio question

Hey Kogoro —

Umeko's been offline for about ten days or so and I have this project ready to go and just need your approval. I'm planning on doing a prev-next template for Project Battrio puck pages, to go at Template:BattrioPuckPrevNext (or some other location). I have the code literally in the editor — I just need the go-ahead. Is this okay?

(You can respond on Umeko's talk page if you want - I asked her before checking whether she's been active. It's fine if you reply here too.) chiefboztalk 23:28, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Never mind. Umeko and I are talking, so you can ignore this. chiefboztalk 23:40, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

OK

So there's not going to be a page until it's out? ARCEUSVICTINI 13:59, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Help

Every time I try to edit the top of a page, it will automatically download a file called "index.php" and keep me on the page that I'm on. I just uploaded a picture of Lily of the Valley island and this glitch is preventing me from doing that. I decided to contact you because you are the tech director and this is likely a tech issue either with Bulbapedia or my computer.

Torch 15:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

It usually happens when the "Alt" key on your keyboard is pressed. Whenever you try to click on any link, a file i.e "index.php" or a php file with the link's name will be downloaded automatically if you press Alt. So, kindly check the keys of your keyboard whether it's fine or not. It should fix the problem that you're having. Thank you, have a nice day ahead. ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 15:17, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

I am sure the alt key is not being pressed. I just tried with them pulled up. I will see if there is something wrong.

Torch 15:43, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry then it may be something else that I'm unaware of. I'll try to pass it to Kogoro as soon as she's available. ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 17:53, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
In your Preferences, under the Editing tab, do you have "Use external editor by default (for experts only, needs special settings on your computer)" checked? If so, make sure it's unchecked. If you also have "Use external diff by default (for experts only, needs special settings on your computer)" make sure that is unchecked as well. Jellotalk 18:57, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Can't create my Userpage

I am new to Bulbapedia and I don't get how to edit the mainspace and all that. Can you help me with that? - unsigned comment from Mr. RPG (talkcontribs)

You've already been making mainspace edits. Any page without a prefix (Prefixes include User:, Bulbapedia:, Template:, and many others.) is a mainspace page. As for your userpage, you have yet to meet the requirements to edit the User: namespace. Just keep helping the encyclopedia out, and you'll eventually be able to edit your userpage. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 04:17, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

According to my Preferences, I've made 8,908 mainspace edits before this day, which is a little more than Littlmiget123's edits. Did you accidentally forget me or do the Preferences include some edits that don't count towards the TC list?--Den Zen 14:29, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Pages which are or have since become redirects don't count. And it's not a matter of forgetting - the numbers are provided by a software script. Werdnae (talk) 20:51, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Additionally, the number in your preferences is overall edits. The TC list records mainspace edits only. —darklordtrom 05:05, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Why do you always block my way --Alipikachu 14:35, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

You're not editing within the spirit of Bulbapedia's mission. You're simply trying to force the system into allowing you to edit the userspace. Such abuse of the system will not be tolerated, as the userspace is a privilege that is meant to be earned. If you can't follow the rules & edit with Bulbapedia's mission in mind, you're just going to have a lot of trouble with the staff. So please, take some time to read up on the rules. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:41, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Don't understand

Why did you revert all of my minor edits to the project notice pages? I don't find anything wrong with linking to the Pokémon franchise pages. I thought you are supposted to link whenever possible. Alot of the messages referred to them, can you explain what I did wrong for next time? You never stated a reason. Thank You. --Pokemaster97 23:22, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

  1. Edits to project notices need to be approved. This can be done either by the Project Leader, or by a Staff Member of Administrator level or higher.
  2. Links in project notices should be exceptionally relevant to the span of the project itself. BerryDex -> Berries, Music -> Songs, CDs, and Musicians. Etc.
While Pokémon is an important page, it really doesn't need to be linked to via every single page cause of the project notices. Linking whenever possible is not the idea, otherwise every instance of "Snivy" would be linking (which isn't done, cause that's excessive). Linking when something first appears in an article, and in the case of templates, when it's relevant to link. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:37, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey Kogoro, when can I edit my user page? Is there an amount of articles I have to edit before I can type things on my user page? Thanks. Totozapper 09:38, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

There are specific, but secret, requirements in order to be able to edit the userspace. So, unfortunately, I can't tell you what those requirements are. Hi, Please see this [wikipedia]. The page that I created was the PART 2 (i.e 2nd part ). BW059 along with BW060 are scheduled to air at the same time in japan.

Wikipedia is not a viable source, nor is it an official source. The user who added that episode to that Wikipedia article cites no official source. If you can present an official source for that episode, I will restore it. But until then, it remains protected from speculative creation. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 17:46, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

As you said, they're not official either. While they are our Japanese partner (They are not "Japanese Bulbapedia."), it does not mean that because they have a premature article for something we must make one prematurely as well. Pokémon: Den of Ages

Why is PDoA not notable enough to warrant a page? Its mentioned in another page and has a large, striving community and continued development. - Navarr 22:56, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Just because something is mentioned on another page, doesn't mean it's notable enough for a page of its own. There's hundreds of different fandom members & fan sites mentioned on pages, which simply don't meet notability standards. By what I can see, without installing their illegal software, their community isn't what I would call striving. Can you offer up some exact information? Daily visits, total number of players, total number of active players, and similar information? As for continued development, the page you created noted that the original title wasn't under any further development and that they've moved onto a sequel, of sorts. Also, do you happen to be connected to the creation, maintenance, staffing, or hosting of the Pokémon: Den of Ages game? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:14, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

We didn't have this CDN caching system in January, and the Archives didn't like to sync up properly with Bulbapedia at that time. Sorry about that

No need to worry. Make sure you remember; just because something is on the wanted pages/templates/files, doesn't mean it's actually wanted. It could be a mis-link, and those should be fixed. So, be very careful when creating things on those lists. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:50, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Outside Images

Hey, I wanted to know something. Recently, a user put very inappropriate images on the site. I was wondering if it is possible to prevent something like that from happening again by preventing outside images. :--SuperAipom7 (Need me?) 21:18, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

That vandal didn't use an outside image, they manually uploaded it to the Archives. Regardless, no, we will not disable the use of outside images on Bulbapedia. Since the Archives no longer allows personal images, outside images are a courtesy that we allow so users can still use personal images on their personal pages. We're not going to take that courtesy away, just because a rare vandal might abuse it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:40, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Trouble on Poképédia

Hi! I'm GreyDragon from Poképédia (the French wiki), and I'm afraid we may have issues with... well... French guys (French Pokéweb is sometimes troublesome because of their - what they think is - humor). So I come and ask you, since you seem to be the (new) head of Bulbagarden archives (congratulations!).

These good fellows have the greatest idea to create an account, then upload A-rated pictures (mostly men with men, but whatever). Have Bulbagarden achives people already dealt with this kind of trouble? Or do you have any idea which could help us preventing this from happening again?

Or you may know someone who knows someone who knows someone who could help us?

Thank you very much. GreyDragon 16:10, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I'd suggest that Poképédia works on building a dedicated, serious, effective, and exceptionally active administrative base to help deal with banning the vandals & deleting their images & edits in a timely fashion. Additionally, a MediaWiki setting change could help; setting upload rights specifically to the "autoconfirmed" user group and increasing the number of days/edits needed for a user to enter that group might discourage a fair number of image vandals. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:01, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

When the names of two accounts are that extremely similar, and both sign up within mere minutes of one another... It's generally not a sockpuppet. Archives bar

Hey there. This is Archives-related, but I assume you check your TP here much more frequently. The bar at the top reads, "Got a spare minute? The Archives needs some love." I realize that's referring to the Archives as a collective unit, hence the singular "needs," but it ought to be "need." I'm a stickler for bringing it up, I know, especially on a talk page, but I just happened to notice it at school and don't have access to AIM. Reversion

As you've been told multiple times on Jessie's talk page, Prof. Westward V's Slowpoke/Slowbro does not belong under Jessie's ownership. If there is an ongoing discussion regarding information that may be debatable, nobody should be adding such information to pages unless the discussion resolves with such an addition being acceptable. Such a blatant disregard for an ongoing discussion is not acceptable, and can result in offending users being blocked. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:07, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
There was no indication that it's been more than one time. He was dancing around a direct answer, yet giving the explanation that Jessie must have done more to qualify for no reason--SandmanDP 05:08, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
MisterE13 stated his point multiple times. When you misunderstood the direct response, he resorted to a metaphor in order to try and explain it. When you complained about that, he restated it directly. From your following comment it appears you misread his direct statement then too. Of course, none of that actually matters. Stuff should never be added to a page when there's an ongoing discussion about its addition in which there has been no agreement. Werdnae (talk) 05:20, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
He didn't give a direct response until I confronted him a second time about it. Stop making things up please--SandmanDP 05:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

  1. That is an old administrative listing from 2006 that has had five updates between then & now (all in 2008). There is also a major difference between a listing meant as a tool to fight vandals, and an article that would just be giving them attention.
  2. Such vandal-related pages (yes, including the Turkey Shoot page) will very likely be going away in the near future, so no need to worry about them. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 13:31, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

IceLibra's Stunfisk picture

I know there's really no point in mentioning this, but since I saw that he kept putting it back, I feel I should say something. Obviously it doesn't matter since he was edit warring anyway, but that Stunfisk picture was stolen from Serebii too. Like, literally copied and pasted. I guess I'm just saying to keep an additional eye on him if he's uploading stolen pictures in addition to edit warring, because even if he stops the latter he could still do the former.

Just thought I should say something. --The Great Butler 08:29, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

  1. Mainspace pages, the ones without a prefix like Talk:, Appendix:, or Shipping:. Examples include Ash Ketchum, Pikachu (Pokémon), and Pokémon Crystal Version. However, you should be editing in order to better Bulbapedia, not just to be allowed to edit the userspace.
  2. Uh, yeah, my Seismitoad from Black uses a mythological Persian name. I am not sure how this is relevant to Bulbapedia, though...
  3. You're free to take a look at the code of my archival HP bar here. When you're allowed to edit the userspace, you're free to try your hand at making something similar. New Language Request

Hello, I have a request for my page. Even though it is an odd language, I can speak Hawaiian and I would like to be able to put that as a language template/badge thing for my profile. You know, the "This user is a native speaker (insert language)." So a "This user is a native speaker of Hawaiian" and all other variations of that. Is is possible to create one of those or do we need to have multiple people request that? Thanks for taking time to read my request- Naui 11:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure if we'd really need a babel tag specifically for the Hawaiian language, mainly due to it being a regional language rather than a national language. I would suggest that you use the specific {{Babel N}}, {{Babel 4}}, {{Babel 3}}, {{Babel 2}}, or {{Babel 1}} base tag for your needs, at least for now. If the language does come to show a high enough userbase on Bulbapedia, an official tag may be reasonable & be given approval. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:44, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Team Galactic HQ

Hi,

May I know how come the maps are to stay at 350px? OK, perhaps my original sizing was far too large, but how come it's 350, rather than, say, 400 or something?

Thanks for your time and have a pleasant day. Cheers, Haxorus 07:46, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

The page still requires Platinum maps of the Veilstone Galactic HQ. 400px would cause too much screen stretching for readers using smaller resolutions. 350px will keep any stretching to a minimum, while still offering a reasonably sized thumbnail that allows readers to get an understanding of the floor layouts without making viewing of the full-size map mandatory. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:57, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Cache Issues

Hi, I was told from SnorlaxMonster that you're the technical director here, so I was wondering if you could shed a little light on this. I've been having trouble with the cache, particularly with regards to new versions of images I've been uploading.

What I've been doing is manually emptying the cache via my Firefox browser and/or pressing Ctrl+Shift+R on my browser to force the new image to show – I've even done things like go back to the original Bulbagarden Archives image page to force the new image to show. Most of the time the new image will work on the Bulbagarden Archives page after bypassing the cache, but not always on the Bulbapedia representative page or the article in which the image is used. At other times, editing the page will actually help, but on other occasions even that does not work. In fact, on some other occasions, bypassing the cache will bring up the new image, but refreshing or otherwise re-loading the page through re-bypassing the cache will bring back the old image.

Do you have any other suggestions?

I realize my above post isn't nearly that informative (since not much else is occuring to me at the moment), and that it probably should be my responsibility to provide as much info as I can. If anything more occurs to me (unless you get there and ask me first), I'll be more than glad to answer what I can (since I am, after all, the one asking for assistance).

Thanks for your help and have a pleasant week. Cheers, Haxorus 12:38, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

It sounds like you're noticing the CDN that we have been using for a while now, rather than actually having a caching issue. Bulbapedia connects to the Bulbagarden Archives indirectly through a Content Delivery Network (CDN) which periodically updates images in order to reduce the server stress connected to the re-uploading of images. (Compare the URLs of the same file via Bulbapedia and the Archives.) This often results in Bulbapedia still displaying older versions of images for a while after a new version is uploaded, since the image isn't being directly accessed from the Archives anymore. Images will generally update on their own within a few hours of a new version being uploaded, often depending on how many times the image is accessed via Bulbapedia. Just give the images some time & they should eventually update. If they still haven't updated after 24 hours, then there may be a problem which you should give me a shout about so I can look into the problem & pass on any relevant information to our techs. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 13:04, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Wow, that was super informative. No wonder. Thanks a lot for your help! :-)
Regarding the last part of your reply, I uploaded new versions of five images to this page on 21 March 2012, and over 72 hours later, one of them (specifically the one of the Gen IV Violet City and Ecruteak City Pokémon Center) is still not showing correctly for me on the Bulbapedia page in which it is used. This is despite the fact that both the Bulbapedia and Archives image pages show the updated image, and all the others I updated and re-uploaded are currently showing properly. Cheers, Haxorus 13:52, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
To update, it finally corrected itself today. Thanks for all the help. Cheers, Haxorus 11:28, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Pokémon/Nobunaga stuff

I just read on Serebii about in-game passwords for obtaining Pokémon. Should I put this in the article?--×Rsrdaman× 01:27, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Should it be put in the article? Yes. Should Serebii be used as a source? Absolutely not. All passwords added must come from an official source of some kind, not fansites, and should be linked in either the edit summary or, if there is not enough room, on the talk page. Otherwise they run the risk of being removed as copyright violation. Werdnae (talk) 01:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

If this was something that couldn't be discussed publicly, then it's fine. I brought it up in the first place because of the damage that happened prior to this revelation. PattyMan 23:10, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
To be honest, I wasn't asking about how a user can avoid being detected when sockpuppeting. I was asking about something else; the user being mean to people and accuse them of things that do not exist. PattyMan 02:22, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

One thing

Since Jo seems to be inactive (bad luck for me)... What do you think about the thing that I mentioned there? Was in middle of 3rd edit, fixing Ghost-type (since I skipped it), but accidentally pressed Enter and Stadium 2's Ghost-type has wrong color. Not sure if that thing is useful for mainspace, though. Marked +-+-+ 20:44, 8 April 2012 (UTC) PS.I didn't fixed the color yet, since I already did 3 edits to userspace, and I am unsure if it's okay to do another edit to fix color.

Since you're the one collecting this data, you must have some ideas for its purpose and use. So, the questions I have are:
  1. What do you think it would be good for?
  2. What do you think it would it be used for?
  3. How do you feel this will help improve Bulbapedia?
Building ideas aren't just a matter of collecting some data then handing it off to a Bulbapedia staff member to decide what it could be useful for. If you're going to make something you'd like to see used in the mainspace/templatespace/etc., you need to build the idea all the way to what the use of the data could/would/should be. Then present it for approval/disapproval and additional discussion. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 13:14, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
How will improve Bulbapedia? Let's see - Eg. A person speaking English is playing a game of Generation it never played in French language and use a move, having no idea what move it is (not seeing the older animation for it, and that problem is solved with template). (S)he could simply look what move it is (if there is image for it), but what if it had no idea what is the type of move? If type was known to person, it would take less time (now why would someone get game in foreign language, well there is a lot of reasons). Not sure what is your opinion, but for me it is slightly similar to this template, since that template shows description from various games, while the thing I am doing is "collecting" types' colors from various games, though only RSE and FRLG are 100% accurate as eg. Stadium being more advanced game, when viewed in Paint shows that the white text is not simply white, but rather many shades of white. Could be used in the types' articles like the template is in moves' articles. The only "catch" is that aside from Mystery Dungeon, I can't do much in Generation IV or V games. I found color coding in both Stadium games, RSE, FRLG and counting Gummi, also in both Mystery Dungeon games. Template? Not sure, though probably it's not necessary since I already did a table - but that's only my opinion. Also sorry for any bad English if there's any. Marked +-+-+ 13:33, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Generation II map extraction

I see you also updated Fighting Dojo GSC.png to show the sprite of the student. What I want to know is which software did you use to extract the map showing the event sprites to an image file. Neither JohtoMap v1.02 nor MegaMap v1.38 allow me to export the maps showing the sprites. And I stopped using GoldMap due to the underlying issues that make it a bad program. SatoMew 20:30, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I didn't extract the map at all. I simply merged the previous two versions of the file together and removed Kris via Photoshop. Additionally, like the notice at the start of my talk page says: Archives-related queries should be asked on my Archives talk page rather than my Bulbapedia talk page.. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:05, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Signatures

Are we allowed to remove the images on signatures even though they are not broken links as I saw it here (I wanted to ask him about it but the talk page was protected)? It was mentioned in the signature policy as well that images weren't allowed in them. PattyMan 00:45, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Saw it there as well so it is possible. PattyMan 00:49, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it's fine to remove all images from signatures while removing the broken file links. About 99% of the signatures with images are from before the signature policy was added, so they were grandfathered. However, with the pages with broken file links category, it's just easier in the long run to wipe all of the signature images out along with the brokens. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Attitude

I don't appreciate being chewed out in a rude manner for making a good-faith edit based on an edit made six months prior and not (at the time) reverted. From your response, one would think I was trying to completely redefine the page, when I was taking the page as it existed at the time and making it more consistent. Truth is, I've been seeing signs all over the place that the administrators of Bulbapedia have lost their capacity for trust - don't bother denying it because yeah, and don't bother justifying this, because I know exactly why it happened and can even sympathize. I know the Pokemon fandom and its propensity for rumors, deliberate misinformation, and trolls. I know all too well why the trust has been lost. But I don't believe this is any excuse to jump down people's throats without making an effort to get the facts straight. (It also bothers me that, despite what Werdnae said, the Pseudo-legendary talk page shows a number of people disagreeing with the definition of pseudo-legendaries where types and experience are concerned, but Bulbapedia's aversion to posting in old topics combined with a lack of an open forum make the discussion disorganized. But I'm mainly writing about the attitude.) --HeroicJay 16:15, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to do this as a list, since there's a lot to respond to:
  1. I wasn't chewing you out nor jumping down your throat, I was questioning the rationale behind your edit within the code of conduct. If an edit appears to be incorrect or otherwise problematic, it has to be dealt with. Since the change to the page in November 2011 was incorrect and missed your edit appeared to be changing the definition without a proper and detailed rationale. I'm sorry you feel I was being rude, but that wasn't my intention. Before telling others to assume good faith, please keep in mind to do so yourself.
  2. You are correct when you note that rumours, personal beliefs, and other things are common within the fandom, but they don't have any standing on whether we trust the userbase. Simply, because there isn't a lack of trust toward the userbase and the staff haven't lost capacity to trust the userbase. Part of being a wiki staffer is to have to monitor, review, and revert edits when it appears to be necessary. Sometimes problems get missed, like the November 2011 edit, we're only human (Except for BulbaBot).
  3. The pseudo-legendary Pokémon page has had a few small debates over the years, that is entirely true. However, the fair majority of those debates have been made specifically because an extremely small number of people want to change the definition specifically to allow certain Pokémon (Slaking, Volcarona, Lucario, Arcanine, Alakazam, Flygon, Haxorus, etc.) into the group. By what I can see every qualifying factor for a pseudo-legendary has been questioned at one time or another, not just the experience group and/or dual-typing.
If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. If you would prefer to contact me privately about anything, additional contact details can be found on my user page. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:16, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
It's possible I misunderstood you; the interpretation I took was akin to "Who are you to be contributing to the Pokémon encyclopedia anyone can contribute to? You'd better have a source for contradicting an unsourced statement that's not even currently on the page!" So if that's not what you meant, my apologies and never mind.
But even if I misinterpreted, and even if there's no lack-of-trust issue involved in this particular case, I've run into lack-of-trust issues from Bulbapedia administrators before. Multiple times - one particular and pretty inarguable case (that I don't feel like discussing right now) especially. So I don't concede that point. --HeroicJay 17:39, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Query re Archives

I have been waiting for a couple of days now to upload a new image to add to the Opelucid City article showing one major difference between Opelucid City in the two sets of games in Unova; namely, that of the northern exit to what was Route 10. Naturally, as I am contributing the file, I'd prefer not to wait for an admin. to upload an image for me, thus taking away the fact that I've contributed it (it will not appear in my edit history). Therefore, my query is as to when the Archives is expected to be unlocked. My edit history both here and on Wikipedia, the latter (though unrelated to Bulbapedia) where I have uploaded fair use images before, should be sufficient to prove that I am a well-meaning editor and I simply wish my first contribution to the archives to be mine, not someone else's. Alternatively, if it will be a while, could an exception be granted and then the ability again removed after it's there?

I'm contacting you with this query as you posted the locked message that only appears after an attempt to upload. It was on SnorlaxMonster's talk page that I learned of the separate spot and the fact that it is locked right now (it did not for some reason clue in to me immediately that the Wiki there is only for images). Even looking at the main page I did not see any notice of it being locked and made an upload attempt. I might recommend a notice much like the one above the page title on this page right now advising of the reason for it being locked so that people do not attempt, but this is just a mere idea.

In closing: to date, I've found myself finding my way back here quite regularly for research purposes, and I am just trying to add some missing pieces here and there. =) CycloneGU (talk) 03:49, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

On later review, I see the person above me asked this, too. I apologize as I do not mean to repeat the subject, I simply wish to make a contribution to the area, and I think it's an interesting piece to add to the article in question. CycloneGU (talk) 03:53, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
As noted earlier, the Archives currently do not have a determined opening date. I would like to open them as soon as possible, but we have a few projects that must be completed before that can happen. If you are not satisfied with an administrator uploading the files for you, you will just have to wait until the Archives are opened. We only grant temporary uploading or editing rights to veteran Bulbawiki users, or to staff of the other branches of Bulbagarden. I apologize for any inconveniences that this has caused, but please be patient for a bit longer. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:40, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
If I may ask, why lock them in the first place? I know it's to ease server stress, but locking a Wiki that "anyone can edit" in the first place seems counter-intuitive. I can understand the images server being locked temporarily; however, it's been a month since it was locked.
Not trying to be a pest or anything; if it's going through server upgrades or something, that's a good reason. I'm just wondering why so long. If easing server stress is the only reason, the reopening day server stress is liable to just get bigger the longer it's held off as more people are standing by to upload whatever they want. I just asking what kind of error then I've been blocked automatically.. haaayyyy--GASPERshut... 08:34, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

You were not blocked automatically, I blocked you myself. You were blocked since after Ataro noted errors in your files, you continued to upload your files without waiting to find out what the problem was and how to fix them. The issues were already noted on your Archives talk pages, approximately 95% of your uploads contain frames where a large portion of the sprite is missing. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:48, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I don't get it, regarding "your uploads contain frames where a large portion of the sprite is missing"???--GASPERshut... 08:56, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
It's exactly how it's written. Your animated PNG files contain frames where large portions of the sprite are not present. Here is a screenshot of the problem frame on File:Spr B2W2 Blaine.png cropped down to the sprite itself. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:05, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
what happened? hmm.. in my browser. it seems okay it has no error or anything...--GASPERshut... 09:13, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Is your browser APNG compliant? Do APNGs actually animate for you browser-side, or do they appear static? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:15, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
they actually animate, even if I upload them in the photobucket it is okay. Even in the Opera browser, it seems okay...--GASPERshut... 23:46, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Could you upload a few to your photobucket album and link me to them here? We will review the images and see if the issue is limited to specific browsers, users, or if there's some other issue at hand going on. Until we can figure out what the underlying issue actually is, however, I must ask that you do not upload any APNG images to the Archives. Just to be safe. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:19, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
[3] take alook--GASPERshut... 08:27, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
There's definitely a bug in the sprites. I suspected the way the first frame is set up, but japng is giving me an error when I try and open those sprites. It's not the program because other apngs open fine in it - the sprites themselves contain bugs. May I ask what program it is that you're making them in, and how you're handling the still first frame? If the first frame is set to 0ms (rather than skipped completely), it could potentially be a loading or display issue as Firefox tries to display it and then the subsequent frame but can't keep up. I'm not sure how the extension for Chrome works, but I'm guessing that whatever conversion it does is smoothing out the transition, hiding the flaw. Werdnae (talk) 09:41, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
[4] check this, I've edited some of the this you've said and tried to tweak it, and it is okay now at firefox.. try and see it.. THANK YOU! I will now upload it after editing it all and check it first at firefox before uploading it!!!--GASPERshut... 09:58, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
May I ask if I will upload new sprites for Black 2 and White 2 or I will just upload a new version (which is animated) in the old static sprites of Black and White version.--GASPERshut... 12:28, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

New Template

Since I have noticed that you have done tons of editing for templates. I have created a new template that needs fixed terribly. It is for the Pokéstar Studios Pokémon page. If it would be possible to not resize the sprites in the template that would be great. There should only be the type, name, ability (which would only be one), and the image. I don't know if the gender section would be needed given they all have a set gender or no gender. Lady Ariel (talk) 20:16, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

For what reasons do you feel that an infobox would be better than what's already present on the page? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:44, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
None, because I realized that this was fixed after I posted this message. Could you delete that page with the template I was working on, please? Lady Ariel (talk) 16:56, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good, the template has been deleted. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:38, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Remove non-existent user - Minecraft246

Could you look at the User_talk:Minecraft246 page and remove it? It is just a redirect and I do not have the ability to. Super goku (talk) 21:27, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Redirect deleted. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:43, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Route infobox

In the route infobox template, can you change the file name format for the Area-Highlighted Town Maps (under Location)? PattyMan 19:46, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Do the same with the infobox location template. PattyMan 23:44, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Route infobox has been updated. Location infobox has been using png since January. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:57, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
The spacing between the word Route and the number of the route is missing in said updated template. The word map needs to be capitalized in the location infobox. PattyMan 00:01, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much

For fixing those files in my sandbox. Random Chaos (talk) 14:30, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

FRLG Leaf.gif

Can you replace this file with a:File:Leaf FRLG Credits.png? Your userpage is protected :s Marked +-+-+ (talk) 18:14, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Little late to reply, but Jo The Marten handled it. Watch how you direct link to file pages, that link was causing an issue with the Wanted Pages. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:11, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

user templates

Do you know why the user templates are protected? The only reason given is high traffic page, but then there are some image links needing a change due to the project. PattyMan 00:39, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

User tag templates are commonly used on multiple user pages. Editing templates used on multiple pages generally causes server stress. To avoid causing server stress because of disagreements with coloring, default sprite, or even the wording of a user tag, user tags are protected and require staff approval to be changed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:18, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
That explains the high traffic page reasoning. You're aware about the file name changes so there wouldn't be that much requesting going on. PattyMan 00:44, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

The mysterious Project Overgrow

Is Phase V of Project Overgrow still going to happen, or has it been canceled? --Abcboy (talk) 02:00, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

When news regarding Phase V is available, the page will be updated. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:10, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
I haven't heard anything about Project Overgrow since 2010. SatoMew 15:16, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Infobox game template update

The problems were foreseen, I told Werdnae that the change in the parameters' names would require updating all articles. SatoMew 15:14, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

The parameter name changes were not part of the noted unforeseen issues, but they are issues nevertheless. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:07, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Berry tag sprites from Generation III

See this section for more information. I'm just asking whether or not I may upload the Generation III Berry tag sprites and what filename they should be under. --Abcboy (talk) 02:41, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

I can't really see much of a point to having the Gen III Berry tag images, other than the e-Reader Berries. If you can convince me they'd have some reasonable use, I may change my mind. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:24, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
All I see is if they can split up the ridiculously large BerryInfobox, then it may have a place there. If we suddenly got an article on Berry tags than they would be useful. Otherwise they would sit around like the Dream World art of the Berries. --Abcboy (talk) 15:24, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Progress

All of the files relating with the trainer sprites have been changed. The only ones left are in the pages that are protected. PattyMan 03:09, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Alright, they'll be dealt with soon and then the deletion stage will begin. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:24, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

what source?

guies, either tell me what kinda source you're talking about, or don't harass me. i'm not sure what you mean by a "source you can confirm." are you saying you're goldish? i need some clairidy. don't undo my edit again because i'm going through enough crap right now and i don't need more drama. please leave the page alone for now. Christian Woods Happy Hunger games! mmkay? 04:05, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Before getting to the matter of your edits, you need to drop that attitude immediately. Accusing people of harassing you, especially when they are following policy to the very letter, is not acceptable. You've been told about the code of conduct before, and now another member of the Editorial Board is telling you that you must follow this policy.
Now, onto your edits. You need to provide a source that a member of staff can verify. You have made multiple claims to have spoken to different VAs, or relatives of VAs, and have refused to give us any information that can be used to confirm that the people you're speaking to are in fact the individuals they're claiming to be. Identity fraud is rampant on the internet, and it's unwise to just believe someone claiming to be a certain individual. If the information cannot be verified as reliable, it cannot be added. Unless you're going to give us the information needed to verify the sources, your additions will continue to be removed. Continued addition of unverified information is another violation of policy and can and will result in hefty blocks. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:12, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
