Power of Alchemy (Japanese: かがくのちから Power of Chemistry) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Alolan Grimer and Alolan Muk and is exclusively obtained as a Hidden Ability.

In battle

When an ally of the Pokémon with this Ability faints in battle (regardless of cause), Power of Alchemy will be replaced by the fainted Pokémon's Ability.

Power of Alchemy will not activate if its ally had the Ability Power of Alchemy, Receiver, Trace, Forecast, Flower Gift, Illusion, Wonder Guard, Zen Mode, Imposter, Stance Change, Schooling, Comatose, Shields Down, Disguise, RKS System, or Battle Bond.

Power of Alchemy cannot be copied by Role Play or Trace. Role Play and Entrainment will fail if used by a Pokémon with Power of Alchemy.

Outside of battle

Power of Alchemy has no effect outside of battle.

Trivia

  • The Japanese name of this Ability resembles the recurring catchphrase in the core Pokémon games: 「かがくのちからってすげー!」 (The power of science is incredible), which is mostly localized as "Technology is incredible!" in English.
