Proof?

Was there proof that Empoleon is Jun's starter and he raised it from a Piplup or is this just a guess? --ケンジガール 04:04, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Its probably just a guess based off of the gameDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))
Well then we got no buisness displaying it as such unless it's confirmed. Though, it most likely is. --ケンジガール 04:07, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Maybe he mentioned it in the episode. I don't understand what they're talking though I watch them. If not, it's probably a guess. --Kevzo8 04:12, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I watched them, and I didn't hear anything about Pochama or Pottaishi. Even PM subs didn't show anything. --ケンジガール 07:16, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
So what happens if the dub mentions them? Then what? --HoennMaster 08:21, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
mentioned in dub only --ケンジガール 09:03, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Accually, there is proof in the dub.In the episode Stopped in the Name of Love! Barry says: "I'll tell you, the evolutionary road from Piplup to Empoleon only gets harder and harder, you just mark my words". You can watch part of the episode where he says it here: [1] It's going to be around 04:40 when he starts saying it. I think that's enough proof for it to be announced his starter.--WikiTomas 17:40, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but that sounds like a very similar case in Drew explaining to Brianna about Vibrava's evolution path to Flygon. Any attempt to use that as outright proof that Drew was known to have possessed his Flygon in the Vibrava stage was shot down. My : That ain't proof at all. For all we know, Barry captured a wild Empoleon and just happens to know about its evolution path enough to describe it. --Shiningpikablu252 18:01, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Or that he had another Empoleon which evolved from a Piplup. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 18:04, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Shiningpikablu252, i bet you didn't even watched that part of the episode that was in the link.Turtwig A, on your oppinion, where did he put that other empoleon?--WikiTomas 18:50, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

He could have it in his party and not have been revealed to have it yet. Also, did it say that in the Japanese version? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 18:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
I most definitely watched that part of the episode. You don't need to have picked Piplup as a starter to know its evolutionary path. Even if Barry did have it in the Piplup stage, which we DON'T know if he did or not, that STILL doesn't prove that he picked it for a starter. For all we know, he could have caught a wild Piplup somewhere and ditched his starter. And before you go trying to disprove the possibility of catching a wild Piplup, just ask Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Mudkip, and Chimchar about their lives before joining their initial trainers. --Shiningpikablu252 19:15, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
He could've also left Turtwig with Professor Rowan and took a Piplup with him like May did around the start of the BF series. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 19:20, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Ditched his starter? That looks more like something Paul would do, but Barry probably wouldn't, because he, unlike Paul loves his pokemon.--WikiTomas 19:43, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

He could've accidentally released it like the case with Pachirisu, but unlike that, he probably never found it after releasing it. But still, this is all just speculation saying that Barry ditched his starter, he found a wild Empoleon or a wild Piplup/Prinplup which evolved into Empoleon, he just knows about the evolutionary path, Piplup was his true starter, he was given a Piplup by a random stranger, or that he got Piplup in a trade, etc. — it's all speculation no matter which way you go so it's being said that he never got it as a Piplup and it is not his starter. Alright, maybe you are right.--WikiTomas 12:18, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

The one trivia point will not be valid anymore, due to Kenny's Prinplup evolving to Empoleon in Grand Festival episodes. Chomi 21:35, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Until the episode in which it evolves airs the trivia point is valid. Once the episode airs it will be removed. Werdnae (talk) 22:22, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

As a Piplup

I had the info about the Piplup thing, but when Bulbapedia was locked. I'm pretty sure we can confirm that i was a Piplup. I mean, we had no evidence about May's Bulbasaur evolving, but we used some loose evidence to confirm it. This is just like then. ----Zewis29 (Talk, Contribs) 14:22, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

In the games

Sine Barry himself is an anime counterpart, shouldn't Empoleon get a section for how it appears in the game or is this different to gym leaders Pokemon? Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 19:24, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

There is games section also in Silver's Feraligatr and Vee, so why not.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 19:29, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Do you reckon Keji would be ok if I made it ? Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 20:21, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
We don't have Gary's Blastoise, May's Blaziken*, or Dawn's Piplup's* game information. It shouldn't be considered an exception just because their names are same. Silver's Feraligatr and Vee not covered in Project Anime, therefore I don't have a say in what gets added to them. But we are not doing here. Gym Leaders are different as they have the Pokémon no matter what. With Barry, it varies depending on what you choose. --ケンジガール 23:51, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Okiee dokiee, your word is law Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 23:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
its in Pokemon Masters now if thats enough for it to count.Roserade57 (talk) 08:06, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, this is explicitly an Empoleon belonging to Barry. A games section for it should now be a no-brainer, but I feel like it should be formally permitted first.--KnightGalarie (talk) 14:37, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
